Need ideas for a new game to play...

Huge map games take so much work, that it's less of a challenge and more plain ol' drudgery. Go down a level and play a tougher variant, play a scenario, download some posted maps from competition games, etc. There are many things to do here on this site, join an SG, a PBEM, start a story in the stories and tales. The one thing to remember is to do what's fun for you.

possibly do a one city challenge... for yourself and your opponents... or for a real challenge just have your nation have one city while everyone else can grow however they want.

Has anyone ever tired a game without Irrigation? I see so many maps where it is mile after mile of irrigated tiles. (Why is that?) Might be a challenge to try that one.

Somewhere around here, there's a game that's at least similar. Try running a search for "Tree Huggers" or something like that.
