cuz' the virus screwed up the exe and made it un-overwritable

That sounds like a problem. I think the only solution I can think of is to have your hard drive wiped if you really need the Civ3 editor. There's not really anything else you can do. Something similar happened to me and my anti-virus program(McAfee) just kinda sat there and went huh??? and didn't do anything
