Which of the Agressive leaders do you dread starting off next to and why?

For me it has to be Napoleon. Monty and Alexander are a joke and the rest never seem to bother me too much. Napoleon though, he gets right up my nose. He never attacks straight away, he always waits until he's built up a nice big army and then it's sledgehammer time for me.

They want a fight? They got one.

That's my usual way of thinking. But recently, and for the first time I was attacked on all sides by 5 civs. Isabelle,Louis,Peter,Tokogawa,Alexander.

I am still struggling. But once you get the upper hand you can usually save yourself threw trades.

God Bless Asoka and Mansu(sp?)

Montezuma is a free nothing. He builds so many chariots and axemen that he never bothers to build decent cities.

Why didn't you include Isabella? she's a ***** too.

I only listed the leaders with agressive traits, ie those most likely to start a war at the drop of a hat. I agree, Isabella is a total pain, always whining on about religous differences. Shut up already.

Monty I don't mind, I know he's psycho right from the start so I take him out with my Cho-Ko-Nu before he can get up and start causing major problems, Tokugawa is the worst though, he's weird, sometimes he's a psycho warmonger, other times he's a perfect gentleman. And he always loves to pick the right allies, so i'd get a ton of - points on diplomacy for starting war with a friend. I usually try to take him out the second he slips up and pisses everyone off (in my latest game where the top 4 powers were budist, I pulled in all of the world on his arse the second he switched religon to taoism).

I HATE ALEXANDER!!!!!!!!!!!

He is annoying, stupid and downright obstinate about picking a war with me even when I am trying to play a nice, peaceful game for a little while..

Of course I also try and wipe him out first thing if I decide to be aggressive...

Tokugawa also pisses me off greatly:mad:

Amen. I should start focusing on making our religions the same just so she won't torment me the whole game.

Aleexander I can never destroy him!!!!!!!!

EDIT:Also Kublai is usally my pet that does my bidding.

Mr. Capac's face and behaviour causes increased secretion of adrenal hormones; rise in pulse rate, and concommitant increase in blood pressure until Mr. Capac is destroyed and his filthy memory wiped from the face of the earth. Now Otto - I just can't hardly ever bring myself to attack him. I need to talk to my therapist.
Well, I don't really have a therapist, but I am sure that the government will send me one for free, because as an American isn't it my right? I guess I'll just pet and talk to my Cornish Rex cat and double up on my SSR.

Isabella is like a free holy city if she starts next to you. I like it.

 That's a completely different angle of view

Taught me something!

Regards.

i think i hate huayna the most. most of the time he's on par in tech with me and if i need to deal with other civs before him he gets a pain in the rear end.

monty isn't that bad. he has huge armies but neglects tech most of the time. so my swords and axes walk over his archers or my tanks roll through his riflemen ^^

Isabella started out right next to me this game, but she actually failed to found Buddhism -- I haven't met who did yet. Saladin founded Hinduism, and I grabbed Judaism, to which Isabella promptly converted when it spread to her city. I have never had a positive modifier with any civ this early in the game as high as I do with her right now. It's like +12, and 7 of that is sharing a faith.

Alexander has given me significant problems in the past, and so has Genghis Khan. Monty's just a pain, but easy to take out; he likes to send wave after wave of outdated troops at whichever of my cities he's closest to, giving me lots of time to build up an army to take his cities, and no one else likes him, so there's no diplomatic hit for destroying him.

I love starting next to Monty. He's such a maniac, but a predictable one. He'll attack you without any regard to winning. He's usually pretty easy to beat as long as you're prepared for him. If he's not attacking you, he's probably going after another AI, keeping them busy so you can focus on building - or attacking them, or him, from another front.

Isabella's fun too. Of course she hates you if you're not in her religion. So, just smack her down. She's spends her resources building shrines and temples, so her miliary is usually weak. Like Smoky says, take her out and you've got a profitable holy city or two.

Toku is sneaky. In my experience, he'll sit there for hundreds of years, quietly building up his army, then attack with a huge force.

I rarely ever get the chance of a real war without half the world turning on me, THATS bad neighbours.

I have always had to wipe out Monty in every game that he's in, and that is almost every game. When I leave random on for the AIs it seems he always winds up being the pest that lives right next door so I don't even bother with him other than to wipe him off the map as early and as quickly as possible.

Montezuma. Not only does he always seem to get an early religion when next to me, he also invades me even if I convert to his [or somehow manage to convert him to one I found]. He drives me batty. Huayna Capac isn't much better.

Napoleon always seems to be my friend, though. o_O

Tokugawa. You just can't deal with him. I've been friends with everybody else at times, and warred with or alongside most of them, but I've never been anything but worst enemies with Tokugawa.

OK, once I managed to convert him, open our borders, trade with him, but even then I felt I never could trust him.
