NEO IV : CLASSICAL

After seeing all those new neses, i realised that most are very similar, so i decided to do this nes, a one detailed large one era game, w/ acctual ancient civs and historical borders, altough some might have not existed at the same time, i placed all of these civs for better playability, so if you like story neses for the storys, want more historical accuracy, or simply want to play something different, join.
EDIT:we are now in the middle ages.

1.ill try to update daily
2.dont join if are going to quit
3. read rules
4.yes, some empires in the nes were not exactly in the same timeline, but plz try to add realism and histroic accuracy to storys, names, etc

I'll take Rome.

Caesar's troops conquered the Etrustcans who were their neighbors. Now all of Italy was The Roman Empire. But Caesar wanted more. So he continued his expansion quest. Out of Italy, into the rest of Europe. But he also thought of Rome. The people were poor and starving. He wanted to build markets for trading and buying. The Economy prospered and the people were happy.

- Grow Economy

Carthage

Carthage began its life as a colony of the Kingdom of Pheonicia based out of Sidon and later Tyre, after Pheonicia fell to the Persian hordes; Carthage as the strongest of the free Pheonician cities inherited Pheonicias overseas colonies.
At first it lead a collection of city states in a union much like the Peloponesian League and Dalian League in Greece; which was later supplanted by an Oligiarchic type Government led by the Oligiarchy Council.

The Carthaginian city states had always been at odds with the independent Greeks in Sicily, Sardinia, Massalia(Southern France), and Etruska(Southern Italy); which the Oligiarch Council sought to dissolve.

As Carthaginian interests began to expand across the Mediterranean seas, Carthage and Persia reached an understanding which gave Carthage a trading edge over the Independent Greeks which precipitated a war between the two nations.
And at about the same time the ancient Persian Empire came under assault by the newly united Greek/Macedon Empire under King Alexander.
Both wars ended in defeat for the Greek nations. Alexander was killed and Greece lost its colonies around the Black sea.
Heiro, King of Syracuse, was also killed by a Carthaginian General who would later become the Grand General of the Carthaginian Empire, and all of the independent Greek territories were either conquered or destroyed by Carthage.
The King of Etruska sought peace with the Carthaginians, and so abandoned his Greek allies.

carthagepostasiaticwar.gif

With th defeat of the Independent Greeks and the weakening of the Etruscan Kingdom, Carthage was able to again expand its interests across the Mediterrean. They now surpassed their parent peoples in Pheonicia in all fields.
However as Carthage grew in influence and wealth, so did the Oligiarch Council grow fat and lazy on the opulence that influence and wealth brung.
Every time the Military came to the Council with a concern about Carthaginian security, they were ignored, the Military had been growing weary of constantly being underfunded and ignored while the Councillors grew fatter and lazier.
Led by the General Zorinian, father of the famous Hannibal, the military began a coup of the Council. Marching into the capital the General Zorinian overthrew the council and established himself as Grand General.

Meanwhile the Etruscans had repeatedly assualted their Roman nieghbours to the north, and they had invaded and conquered much territory; and had lain seige to the capital city itself.
It was during this seige that the Romans overthrew their King in a similar fashion that Zorinian overthrew the council; and they established the worlds first known Republic.
Establishing their Republic, brought an unbelievable patriotic zeal to the army of Rome, that out of imminent defeat they snatched a victory and defeated the seige.
They swept southwards over Etruska, as the Carthaginian army led a massive colonisation and conquering program east and west.

Pretty soon all of Italy was ruled by the Republic and Carthage controlled nearly all of North Africa, save for Egypt, whom they now held a border with.

Carthage

After the Grand General seized power in Carthage, he kept the Oligiarch Council as a mere figure head Government.
Everyone knew he was truely in charge, but he did not war to risk an outright civil war that would most certainly occur should he remove them completely.

The Empire grew, and the military became the greatest in all the Mediterrean. However because of military control of the nation, instead of too little being spent on the military there was too much.
The nation stagnated, much of its wealth and prosperity dissapeared and Carthages enemies began to see weaknesses in the Empire.
The Oligiarch Council war furious about this, especially when Rome, of all nations Rome, began making serious inroads into Carthaginian trade; something the Council for all its foibles would never have tolerated.

So they rebelled, choosing to try and take back power from the Grand General. They were defeated of course, but not before they caused serious damage to the Grand Generals military might; and highlighted not only to everyone in arthage except for the Grand General, but to everyone outside the Empire that the star of Carthage was about to fall.

Hannibal and Hirolyam sought to find a way to convince Zorinian to reform the nation, and prepare for the future instead of spendng all his time training his precious military.
They travelled to Rome and witnessed the Republics rising greatness for themselves. After gathering enough evidence which they hoped they could use to convince Zorinian to form a Republican style Government in Carthage they returned.

Zorinian did not see a reason to change, instead he saw a deadly enemy in Rome, and he charged off to war; invading Roman lands from Sicily and Sardinia.
The Punic war as it came to be known was lengthy and costly for Carthage, their navy was destroyed and they were forced to ceed control of Sardinia to Rome, as well as recognise ROman trading rights across the Mediterrean.
The only thing that stayed Romes vengeance was the fact that they were gripped in civil war; the Senate of Rome was attempting to fend off the ambitions of the self crowned Emperor of Rome, Julius Ceasar.

However this was enough to signal to Greece and Egypt that Carthage was ripe for invasion, and so the war continued.
The heaviest of the fighting being between Carthage and Egypt in the Libyan regions; which was almost completely depopulated by the war.
At the end of all the fighting Carthage and Egypts Libyan territories were destroyed and their armies almost completely gone, and most of Sicily was lost to Greece.

carthagepostpunicwar.gif

After the war Zorinian returned to Carthage in disgrace, but somehow managed to hold onto power.
Hirolyam, being a typical Greek, was a very good and peruasive orator and he was also a strong believer in this Republic concept the Romans had pioneered. He was hurt and dissapointed when Zorinian ignored his advice and almost destroyed the Empire, so he began using his oratory skills to call for change.
This led him into conflict which Hannibal who was to succeed Zorinian as Grand General, who staunchly supported his father.
This conflict between the two friends eventually lead to a second Carthaginian civil war, as Hirolyam and Hannibal and their followers fought each other throughout the Empire, until Hirolyam emerged as victor and had Zorinian executed; Hannibal espaced the same fate as his father by fleeing abroad.

Hirolyam installed himself as Consul of Carthage and established a Senate; and a Education and Judicial system based around a Republic.
Just as Carthage cast off its military dictatorship and Empire status, and embraced Republic. Rome cast off its Republican ideals and Emperor Ceasar took control.

When Hirolyam felt Carthage had grown strong enough once again, he sent an envoy to the Greek King requesting the return of Sicily; and naturally the Greeks refused.
The Republic seized the island, and the newly built Carthaginian navy destroyed any attempts by Greece to land troops to retake the island.
The War of Sicily was short and after the Greeks saw they could not hope to retake the island, they capitulated.
Though their withdrawal could have been due to increased Greek-Persian tensions...

History of Persia

Years ago the king of Media had a son called Cyrus - or so the legend says. Media was the greatest empire of the middle east during those days, and together with Babylon they had gotten rid of Assyria for good. The king of Media saw a frightening dream when Cyrus was just a child, and in his dream his son would take over his entire kingdom. So he send Cyrus away, to land areas known as "Persia" - these distant lands were also a part of the great Median empire.

But Cyrus became greatly respected and loved in the Persian town he lived in. And with the support from the young townsfolks, he rose to be the king of that city state he lived in. But he had plans even greater than that; he started to dream of a glorious Persian empire that would spread over all the lands of Media. He started to prepare a great Persian army.

Legend says that he had an interresting way of getting people to join his uprising against Media; In one day, he would all his men work hard without much food until they were exhausted. The second day he provided them with free meal and allowed them to celebrate. Then he asked which day the people had liked more, and the people answered: "the celebration day". So, Cyrus promised that every day would be a lot like the second day if the king of Media was overthrown, but if not, the first day would be what the people would get.

This uprising was effective, as even king's own advisors let him down and gave secret information to Cyrus. And after defeating the old king, Cyrus declared all Median lands to be now Persian and himself as the king of the entire empire.

So, the great empire of Persia was born.

And it grew. It destroyed Babylon and went all the way to Egypt. But soon after defeating Alexander the Great of Greece, Persia started to lose some of it's areas. Babylon gained it's independence back, and soon Egypt did the same thing. Some bad mouths started to whisper that perhaps the great Persian empire was falling apart...

But young king Cyrus III was not happy with this. Two years after heritating the crown of Persia, he has sworn to keep the country as a superpower. Will he succeed? Only time will show...

ORDERS:
Grow economy.
Cyrus III's first great attempt to make his nation a superpower was to increase it's economy, and for this he designed a whole new customs system; Persian city states that are supplying food to other Persian city states don't have to pay any custom. Before Cyrus knew it, the economy was booming!
