Hey, my laptop is giving me some trouble. Although my laptop has no problem connecting (ethernet) at school, it has recently stopped working on my home network (ethernet), although it did until about a week ago. What happened and how can I fix it?

I don't have experiance with this sort of thing, but can I suggest the wire? Maybe that is faulty. Or is it wireless? Maybe the wireless thingy is broken/switch set wrong on it. If you could supply us with more details, I think it would be a bit easier!

If it works on the school ethernet, but not on the home ethernet, then there's a problem with the home network. Easy to deduce, the problem is what went wrong. Well, maybe there's some sort of loose connection? The ethernet card may have come out on the laptop/pc. Or maybe there's some error with the software. Have ony of the configurations been changed?

Sorry I can't give you any specific fix, but I'm not really experianced in this part, (never had a laptop or ethernet, have a token ring though) and I don't have enough details to really deduce something. Hope it helped though. :)

No, its not the wire. I've tried it on several (including ones that work my my other PC's). It's definately something wrong in my laptop's settings but I can't figure out what!!!!!! Please help me!!!

Well if you changed around your domain and/or workgroup, then that could be your problem. You also need to make sure you're using the right protocols to communicate with the other computers.

It's hard to tell because whatever changed, it changed itself (or more likely I accidently changed it). This probably means it's a more accesable less prominent change. I'm guessing I probably restored some defaults or something, but I don't know how to return to whatever settings I previously had.

That's a difficult situation.

Can you find the network neighbourhood setings on the home pc? Check if the main things are ok.
