neutral graphics for neutral units

in multiplayer it seems a bit obvious that these harassing swordmen look a lot like dark elves. would be cool if they would get a neutral design
 
That would be pointless as dark elves are the only ones who can make their non-recon units hidden nationality. even for recon or council of esus units there is still a verry narrow list of civs that could be sending them at you
 
I agree, hidden nationality is useless against a human player if it has a unique graphic that identifies you.

Maybe HN units should have the appearance of a normal barbarian unit.
 
I'm not entirely sure that's possible... we had a bunch of ideas about units utilizing graphical changes based on promotions, but I think there was a problem in the implementation. But Ringtailed idea would be great.

Its in the plans. One of the reasons we allow promotions to force civ specific art is so that we can assigned a "hidden nationality" civ art type which uses all generic art (just like we do with illusions). I just havent gotten around to it yet.
 
If it's implemented to make hidden nationality unit to look like normal units, please make it an option, i wouldn't like to see Elves Swordsmen becoming normal swordsmen.

You could simply bundle them up in a cloak and hood to hide their entire body. This would prevent it from looking like elves and humans are turning into eachother and makes sense. If they're HN you can't tell who they are and thus they don't know who owns it.
 
Yeah, can't you just make them cloaked instead? It would be kind of weird having an elf randomly changing into a human.
 
I like the idea of a special graphic for hidden nationality units. That will be a welcome change in my book.

On the subject of hidden nationality units not being so hidden, it would also be nice to not be able to see the promotions on hidden nationality units. I mean let's face it, a hidden nationality unit with a race promotion is a dead giveaway. It wouldn't change anything in a single player game, but it would make a world of difference in multi-player.
