Never before seen Civ 4 screenshoots

Possible answer to 1) - Well I don't think Antium is the Holy City of Daoism at least there are no improvements or indications that this is so. At least we can see that no Great Religious Person has created a shrine in that city.

I hope for the sake of the trade model that it is that and is based on excess production of food or some such that you can deal with other cities. I have no proof whatsover though.

This screenshot has me very excited also, I see the tank has 9/10 exp. points and says nothing in the level box so I assume after one more exp. point it will become a level one, But the unit apears to have three promotions already does this mean that units are going to be that easy (maybe to easy) to promote, regardless I like to way the information is displayed!... :goodjob:

6) What role do the granary, grocer and marketplace and bank play in Civ4?

I'll bet you can get 4 coins from Antium, 6 from trade. With 90% goes to research, that will be 9 beakers. With library and university each increases research by 100%, you wind up with 27 beakers.

I guess the bag with a $ sign indicates tradable goods, and that's why Antium get 2 coins from each city it is trading with.

At the screenie above here we can see the scores of all nations, as we can in mutiplayer today. It really enoys me to be able to compare myself with the other Civs just from the start, the game loses a lot of it's excitement, and my opponents usually give up when my score is to good early in the game, and our Civs haven't even met yet!
Please give us an option to turn the scoreboard of this time!!!!!!!!

Doesn't this remind you of Call to Power 2 ? You could select culture filter, the trade filter etc... This game is looking deep and complex. Thanks God. No dumbing-down here :) Colurs: must be a picture of Ireland I guess, look I can even see a leprechaun ! :D

This city/castle is looking great. It seems to have the famous religious line-of-sight. Perhaps the GW Pyramids start off a new religion or somethin.

Question:

On the city screen:

How do you interpret the different sizes of the food icon
in the circled worked tiles?
I see 3 (three!) different sizes!

My interpretation:
the big ones mean duble-food - I see 2+2+3 if these, they would make 2x7 = 14
the medium sized ones mean a simple food: 2+2+2+2+2 = 5x2 = 10
And we have the 24 that is seen as sum on the top.

The small foods indicate only the theaoretical possibility of harvest...

Now, the sacks with dollar sign:
My guess is that they mean food that is SOLD! Traded!

Hey, that would be something! :)

I see the circles are all the same size.

Antium is a size 11 city.

12 circles. One of the circles is the city itself, the other 11 are worked tiles by citizens. Some produce gold, some hammers (shields), some food some ...

Yes, you're right, I would guess the same thing. Those dollar signs only appear where there's a food icon of bread. So the food surplus must be sold. Antium is about to grow in two turns so that probably goes to show that it is making a food surplus which it is in fact trading !

Now I see what you're talking of. Yeop it would appear the food icons have different sizes. Some tiles more productive than others with say a farm or windmill ? Dunno.

circles are the same size - but not the food icons inside them! :)

My thought is that surplus is not necessarily sold, only if you decide so!!
24 is more than 22, Antium keeps 2 foods to grow, only the rest goes for trading!

I saw the same thing too, V. Soma, but didn't give it any thought until you mentioned it! Here is a wild proposition, what if the different sizes relate to the different sizes of the underlying resource? In which case, we may in fact be seeing the first evidence of a quantitative or semi-quantitative resource system! That would be soooo cool, if true. As I said, though, this is just speculation on my part.

Yours,
Aussie_Lurker.

Yup, sorry. Brainfart. I edited my post to reflect that.

Well, here it is only about what is produced in a city.
Not resource - product...

But yes, we should check if we find different sizes of resources on the map...

One thing that disappoint me, is that it seems there is only room for 7 other civ in the diplo screen.

I would have thought that, after several years, they would have worked out another way than the Civ3's one.

I completely agree.
If we were still limited to see a max of 8 nations at the diplo screen, this would be a major disappointment as it would mean much micro-management again.

My only hope lies in the fact that the icons are organized in a different manner which might indicate that they could auto-arrange themselves if more nations are to be displayed.

yes to this day i don't understand why it is so hard to put all the countries on one diplomacy screen... simply put the player's civ in the middle and surround it with foreign civs as they meet each other!
