Hey Everyone, I'm buying and building a new computer, i've got a bunch of parts that i'm planning on getting, but the shop i'm getting them from has a limited selection (but at wholesale prices). Was just after anyone's opinions on these parts (i can provide alternatives too), and especially if any are gonna have compatibility problems.

This computer is going to be a home-use one. Not doing anything special with it. Just general purpose/games. Can put up prices but they're gonna be in $AUS :) link to the shop i'm going to: http://www.msy.com.au/Parts/PARTS_W.HTM

Processor: Athlon XP 2600

M/B: Asus A7N8X-X (also limited options of Giga-Byte and Epox mobos)

Ram: 2 x 512 PC2700 DDR (Kingston)

HDD: 7200RPM Western Digital 120GB - 8MB Cache

Vid Card: 128MB Giga-Byte ATI 9200 DVI VIVO W/TV
(Not at all sure with video cards - but would like a decent one, and VIVO if it's financially feasible - for this card it was $30 more for the VIVO so it's worth it)

DVD: 16x Lite-On

Burner: 52x52x32 Lite-On RW

Modem: get from old computer

Network card: netcomm 10/100

Mouse/Keyboard: if anyone can take a look at that site and pick a good one there.

3.5": from old computer

Case: AOPEN H600A

Monitor: Another question one: was thinking of getting a 19" CRT one, but not sure of the brands there.

Soundcard: Creative Live D.E. 5.1

Anyway, any advice/suggestions would be nice :) thanks

KDS makes a good cheap monitor. I think their 19" flat panel goes for about $190.

I fergot. . .you're in Australia.

ViewSonic is a good monitor. I don't know how much you've got to play with, or if price is even an issue. I'd go with that over the hyundai. Can't read the prices very well, but the veiw sonic is pretty good.

I'm not going ot recommend a keyboard, cuz it's kind of a personal thing. I've got an MS Internet Pro at work, it's alright. I got it for the multimedia/internet buttons and the built in USB hub. But it's old, and the keys creak when I type. Don't like that much. I just bought a Logitech Elite keyboard. It's pretty nice. Helluva lot chaper than the MS one, too.

Rest of the stuff looks pretty good, tho.

Yeah I was thinking of going logitech for mouse, but unfortunately they only have cordless keyboards, don't really want or need cordless

and money isn't too big an issue. was planning on the 19" samsung but will get a cheaper brand if i know they're good.
