New Conquests PBEM

Can we get a freakin' turn more than every three days?
I really regret starting this war. Not because of any qualms of conscience, , but because we used to get two turns a day in before the war started. I don't know what is different now, but I'm almost totally turned off from this game because of the delays and some of the bad vibes going on lately.

In the latest developments, my main army is running away from a huge stack (20+) Mayan Longbows. I'm not going to allow that stack to attack me first in his territory, he's going to have to come out to play. :D Another weakly defended city fell to my horsemen, and was razed. I aim to pillage and raze to my heart's content. Time is on my side as Mayan Despotism + huge army costs + loss of territory + loss of cities will take its toll eventually.

I'm not sure that the war is the reason for the delays..

Sounds like you guys are bent on destroying the Mayans.. I guess I'll have to keep your aggressiveness in mind for the later parts of the game..

I assure you it is nothing personal. I have sunk so much of my economy into my military that there really is no other choice. I would need to gain substantial territory in get a minimum return on investment. If I backed off now and reestablished borders to their former lines, I would be 30+ turns behind in infrastructure and Techs.

I wish Playboy would at least check in and say: "Sorry, Internet problems" or "Sorry, huge personal problems". That would be cool. But I've had to resend the last 4 turns to him (some more than once), with hardly any acknowledgement back from him.:(

EDIT: Never mind. He has explained his communication problems, and they are a nightmare. Sorry to cast any aspersions upon his character! I was just venting and having a bad day, it seems.

He sent an email earlier with a cc to all I think that he was being delayed because of work assignments..

i am hesitant to think the delay is in game related, in an email i was assured me he was still interested, doubt he would say so unless he genuinely was.

as far as my part of the war, my forces have been basically cut in half, although i have ben responsible for the abandoning of two cities and the destruction of one. i also managed to capture three workers. have fought very few actual battles on my side, all losses came on defense when i was blind to see what was happening as the mayans made a stand in a pop 1 city.

basically i think he was trying to move his forces away from my stack as he thought i was headed for a certain city, but using the roads he had abandoned and two horses i managed to locate his forces inside that city and so changed direction, i later went back to my original destination and he abandoned that city. it did cost me some units and both horses. right now i am trying to reunite my stack as it became seperated in hunting efforts / attacks. i was surprised he had not actually gotten rid of all of my forces by now. i have my next target picked out, but like rubber, am retreating to my territory, or neutral territory w/out roads to give units some time to heal / regroup.

we are not so much concerned about mayan destruction as we are removal from our continent, if they manage to relocate i have no objections to allowing them to survive. on my side i just felt uncomfortable being in last place with the first and second place guys sharing my continent. i felt sooner or latr they would look north to my land and that was the whole reason i sought an alliance with rubber.

when the smoke has cleared i will be left with a lot of marshes to clear out, thankfully i have industrial strength workers.

i dare to estimate from my last turn the mayans have 7 continental cities left. perhaps the mayans would like to end this war by just gifting them all to me, i think that would buy them peace, since he spurned my previous demand of 7 middle ages techs and a luxury resource. :D :D :D

That is pretty much total destruction given how little unclaimed land is left ;)

how am i supposed to know how much unclaimed land is left?

since the celts are removing the indians & the hittites from their continent, perhaps there will be room for the mayans to rebuild over there. i would hate to think the mayans would be eliminated from the game due to celtic selfishness

A warning for King Ironduck.

Be it known that all former Mayan lands now belong to the Persian-Dutch alliance by right of conquest. All cities on our continent that were so cheaply given to you are to be handed over to us immediately, or suffer the scourge of war.

Yours diplomatically,

Kings RJ and Predesad.

PS. Let's do tea sometime, eh?

Does that mean I should consider the entering of those galleys into my territory an act of war? I guess by your own words you have declared war on me, I just wish I had realized this before my last turn, and here I thought we were going to be peaceful neighbors, distant neighbors after you gave me what was rightfully mine, but yet peaceful. Oh well, like the last ruler who declared war on me you to shall fall.

Oh please, my galley is a peaceful explorer and contains no units. Your troops amassing outside my territory is a completely different kettle of fish.

My troops were hunting Mayan scavengers, we have spotted a wounded horse in this area.

I don't understand your logic, if my units go inside your borders it is war, if your units go inside mine it is peaceful exploration, oh well, time to take the turn and fight this bloody war you started.

Celtic logic:crazyeye: :crazyeye: :crazyeye:

It comes from lead poisoning from the body paint they are fond of using. (So I've heard!)

I have not once entered any territory of yours with a millitary unit and had no intention of doing so. Please spare me from your ridiculous accusations.

Well...uhhh...technically...uhmmm... the galley *is* a military unit, as it has an attack factor of 1. I'm not even pretending that you violated my territory. You oppurtunistically confiscated terrritory that was mine by right of conquest. That is pretext enough in my book!

The galley has not attacked any of the ships it passed, and that is the only thing I could use it for since it has no bombard and no millitary on board.

I did not confiscate anything, a deal was struck with the Mayan ruler to protect his cities under neutral flag. Those cities are not your territory, they are mine, and by amassing troups outside you force our people to flee rather than fall under your oppressive yoke.

Sir Ironduck of the Celts, I do not know why you have continued to accuse me of starting wars. I have yet to declare war on anyone ever in this game. In fact, I am even thinking of entering peace negotiations with the Mayans now that they have indeed vacated our lands as just retribution for the young lives they took so unmercilessly.

In the beginnings of our meeting, it was perfectly acceptable for galleys to be in my territory. However, once you make a statement that troops entering into your territory is an act of war you should also expect others to consider your troops in their territory an act of war. Otherwise this is called a double standard. You claim your galley is empty, but how do i know that?

You claim your galley has yet to attack any ships, I claim my troops have yet to attack any of your units. I am merely trying to locate scavenger mayan units. I fear they might be trying to hide inside the borders of cities formerly under their rule.

Sir Ironduck, my units are going to continue to enter into your borders to search for said Mayan units, this is going to happen and you must tolerate it simply by involving yourself in the area during the middle of a war.

So far you have been very cooperative in surrendering possession of these lands, an act we very much appreciate. I must applaud your help in the war. It was very nice for you to take those cities from the Mayans and then offer no resistance and simply hand the land over to us. We are not yet at war, I suggest you continue to hand over our property, taking any remaining units with you, and take back your accusation that moving units into your territory is an act of war.
