New Dawn 1.71 install help

Hi,

I have Civ 4 BTS on Steam.

The path is:

D:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\sid meier's civilization iv beyond the sword\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Rise of Mankind

Rise of Mankind 2.9 installed, and works perfectly.

Then I run the "A New Dawn 1.71.exe" with no UAC as admin,choose the same dir as above, all goes well until the VERY end I receive "an error has occured".

When I press ok it shows install was successful. I launch the game in the mod but when I start a new game I get no UI.

Now I read that means a bad install, but I followed the instructions fully.

Any help would be appreciated

Could be corrupted, try redownloading.

Re downloaded. Re installed. Exact same thing happens.

Did you see a WoC coverter box? If not you need to download Java.

I have a question, is this version compatible with RoM 2.91? It actually replaces the lighthouse +1 commerce effect!

Yes I do see it. I get the "An error has occured" right before the install completes and WoC pops up.

Try a manual install. Create a new directory on your desktop, install to that directory (you might get an error warning, and will get a warning about woc_installer.jar not found. Ignore those for now). Then, copy the contents of the folder into your Rise of Mankind folder, and report back.

Yes and No. AND 1.71 will work with RoM 2.91, but wasn't made for it. Due to family, I won't be able to issue a patch until Wend at the latest.

Ok manual install did it, now i see the UI, though I did get some error as in the file directory name is too long (eg. Strategic Grain Reserves folder).

Luckily, in the case of the Strategic Grain Reserve and the other OV's wonders if the folder is installed with a truncated name it will still work because it is fully WoC.

Yes but WoC doesnt work on manual install

So I am cut off from some of the mod stuff just because of the folder name length.

I have no idea why the normal installer doesnt work, but I do believe the error pop up at near end of install is the same of the manual install in that the folders path name is too long.

A bit of confusion here between the WoC standard for XML files which was what I was talking about and the woc_installer for sound. It is the sound one that does not work for manual installs. Unless of course you run it yourself, which is what I do when adding the AAranda religions.
