New DLC: Polynesia

Aah, OK. Yes, it was.

Imagine if in the scenario, each civ had it's own (New) leaderhead!

Pachacuti, Montezuma, Hiawatha, and Ramkamhang if I were to guess :p

My guess is FRIDAY the 4 and not Friday the 3...

Or Thursday the 3

2K Games have announced that they will be releasing new Civilization 5 DLC this Thursday. The Polynesia pack will add the Polynesian civilisation and new research trees that can be used to unlock new cultural wonders like the Moai stone heads of Easter Island, and military units like the Maori Warriors. There will also be a new scenario called Paradise Found in which you must take charge of one of four tribes and fight for supremacy in Polynesia.

It's active on Steam and downloading to my CPU right now

I clicked on the link in-game and it showed up on the Steam store page and it just finished downloading. :king:

I haven't seen this mentioned in any of the posts yet, but I haven't been able to get through them all on this thread. PC Gamer announced the release of this DLC with the following statement:

"The Polynesia pack will add the Polynesian civilisation and new research trees that can be used to unlock new cultural wonders like the Moai stone heads of Easter Island, and military units like the Maori Warriors."

I wonder what they mean by the bolded statement. Is it simply going to add the new wonder on the existing research tree? It wouldn't seem so by the statement. Are they going to add a new branch? Or is something else meant by the statement? Does anyone have any insight into the statement?

Now I have two maps that say "Americas" :(

Probably new trees for the scenario. That is what they did for the New World scenario.

it's just been released on Steam guys, at least, or am I the only one that has it now? :D

The civ of Polynesia is the latest DLC to be released. They definitely fill in a gap in the world map but what are your thoughts on it?

It's $4.99, not $3 as earlier reported. Just so people are aware.

EDIT: To be clear, the earlier report was a rumor as far as I can tell, NOT a statement from 2K or Firaxis. Just to head off "bait and switch" cries.

except Firaxis has an entire trained art team. even if they've been spending the last year or so working on AI...

still, it shouldn't be that much trouble for them, especially since units aren't affected, only cities

Except what? Did you read this part of my post? \/ \/

India and Egypt would be the first in line for that in my book anyway. Them not making India have their own unique style & music set should give you a clear idea that they won't be making new music sets and art styles. I mean come on, India. I cringe every time I see Indian cities in civs, both IV and V...

The point was, if they didn't bother for India, they sure as hell not gonna bother with "Polynesia"...

I think Russians would also argue that they have a unique enough architectural tradition that they should get their own designs. And Babylon, being old than most of the others, should arguably have a different style. You know, if we are going to make a wish list.

And the point of this post is... ? Did you even understand my post? You're simply enforcing my point even further. ;) Exactly what I said. If one gonna expect unique style for Polynesia, then India and Egypt surely should be getting it too. You know, if we are going to make a wish list.

And trust me Russians are fine with European style set just fine BTW...

You actually misread, the price that was being reported before was 3 GBP, not USD.

Just bought, downloaded and started a game as King Kamehameha. The DLC is out!

I will let someone else who has more strategic depth do impressions and such. I just get to claim first sighting.

(Okay, so I missed first cause I answered a phone call....) Am off to go play.
