new game (No Mods)

well as i promised here is the saved game file. apparently im faster than the postal service :) . as for the screen shot i will start next turn.
whoever wants to take the save please feel free to do so.
just post a message to say it was you and then i will change your name to the next place in the roster

Just downloaded it. Don't know if I'll have time to post all ten turns tonight, but I should be able to finish them, at least.

I may have a snow day tomorrow, so I'll definitely get them up then.

If this is too in-depth, just tell me and I'll stop being so...in-depth. :)

Pre-turn - Move the Science Slider up to 100%, 0 gold per turn, but Ceremonial Burial in 4 turns. Change production to Warrior for scouting…hope that’s ok…

IBT - Borders expand, and…notice worker is on auto…=/

3450 B.C. - Nothing.

3400 B.C. – Nothing.

3350 B.C. – Warrior built. Explore and start road. Move down Science Slider to get an extra gold per turn, but CB is still due for next turn.

3300 B.C. – CB in…can’t decide what tech to go for next.

I usually go for Philosophy to maybe get the free tech, or Monarchy. I don't know if more people here prefer Republic, though, so I figured I should ask.

I doubt I'll get an answer tonight before I get off, so I'll leave it till tomorrow...3 1/2 turns down, 6 1/2 to go.

i guess your either from ireland or scotland. I prefer Monarchy but dont know about other people, (i dont bother worrying about workers so i stick em on automate).

Heh, I do have a snow day today...even though it's barely snowing...oh well, I'm not complaining.

Actually I'm from Maine *points to Location under name*.

I guess I'll go for Monarchy, since we're already on our way there. We don't know how far the AIs are towards Philosophy, either, so I'd rather not risk that.

I'll post the remaining turns in a few hours (it's around 11:30 AM for me).

oh yeah so it does :-) well i said them two because we had alot of bad weather up here.

So I take it you're from Ireland or Scotland?

I guess my estimate was wrong. I finished the turns (by the way, we met a civ):

3300 B.C. (cont.) – Set Science to Mysticism, and explore.

3250 B.C. – Put Science to 90 % and Happiness to 10 %. We’re getting a warrior next turn, though, so that can go back to 0% next then.

IBT – An Indian Warrior walks by. Awesome, except he’s one turn away from that goody hut.

3200 B.C. – Talk to Gandhi. He has Bronze Working, and we have Pottery, but he won’t trade. Worker finishes road, start on mine. Warrior is built, garrison him in London, bring Science to 100%. Start worker.

3150 B.C. – Remember to check Victory Screen. Gandhi’s ahead of us by 10 points in score, and already has 1% of land (we have 0…). Notice he has 1 more culture than us – I take it you moved our Settler on the first turn, right Penwa?

3100 B.C. – Nothing…except I checked the Military Advisor screen, and we’re average compared to Gandhi.

3050 B.C. – Worker built. Start Granary, but the next person can change it if they want. Maybe to a curragh? Our land is kind of strange, and I think a curragh would be helpful to explore south along the coast.

Here's the save (I know I can post images, let's see if I can do saves):

yeah,i started the game (without patch) looked around then settled, when i went to make the same moves, (roughly) with patched version i moved straight there. I think that the next person should think about founding more cities get as much land as we can before the indians do.

p.s yes im from scotland

Ah, I see.

Could you check to see if I attached the save correctly if you haven't already? I'm getting off soon, and want to make sure it's all right for the next person.

my report

pre turn - change build to settler. london just wont do as a settler pump.
science wise ill keep the monarchy path, with a very heavy heart.

2950 - finish mine. road to gems and mine BG. keep expolring.
2800 - pop a hut. we wake up some nasties. we also meet Abe :) on a differnt land mass :D we have Alpha & CB, they have BW & MAS. no trades yet.
2710 we get myst. lower SCI to 10% as we wont get POLY in less than 50 anyway)
2590 found York. now heres a settler pump if i ever saw one :D :D :D
i start warrior, then i suggest worker and then granary, for the full settler pump.
2550 london gets warrior just as our man flint gets bushwacked in the east by those nasties. london starts on colossus.

deals - i give CB + ALPHA to Abe for BW, MASONARY & 10g.
ghandi is still up WHEEL, but were up MAS + POT.
our economy is 42g + 8gpt.

i think we should keep going for colosus (that cash will come in very handy later on). we should also keep pushing for more contacts - we want them as early as possible. York should be made into a settler pump.
i think we are alone on our landmass, so lets use it. make nothing but settler > escort teams. use our existing warriors for escorts. and build up our cities.

on the map i placed 2 recommended city sites, the further one has wines.

Well, I think we're on the same landmass as India. It looks like that's actually a cove, and we're on like a peninsula. Either way, we have lots of room to expand, with great land.

And if more people want Republic, we may be able to trade Monarchy or some other techs for it. The AIs seem to go straight for it in many of my games.

I usually don't even attempt Wonders until late Middle Ages. But if you think the Collosus will help us that much, I say we might as well go for it.

That southern future city should be a good settler pump too -- at least a really great city. A river, some woods, and a fish AND wheat after a culter expansion.

the main point of the colosus is its commerce bonous
1 more per squre that makes one.
which means LOTS of extra cash.

regarding the REP
it depends on our goals.
if we want to take over the world - monarchy is the way. rep is harder to wage war in but much wealthier.

that southern town should build temple first (waiting to grow a bit and expanding to get those bonouses) after which start the pump.

this is what i think the beuty of SG, someone has one view and some one has another view.
well when its your turn you can lead the nation in what ever direction you wish (you may get moaned at but hay YOUR THE LEADER)

now as for where that other chaps got to i dont know,

i dont know if he got the game save or not, do you guys know if evincar is playing still?

i will take the game save and play ten turns, but wait a while incase someone else pops along

According to Evincar's profile, he was last active yesterday at around 3 P.M. (whether that's his 3 or my 3, I don't know...). So he is still around.

But you might as well post your turns Penwa. If he or someone else shows up, they can just play after you, or whenever the next chance is.

wow that was faster than i imagined.

not alot happened till 2230 so i'll start there

2230-conected london-york
2190-produced settler, on his way to a bit of land that looks more than good.
2150, got iron works from U.S. and wheel from India

we have one extra tech than the indians and are level with the U.S, Science time seems to be a long time dont know why it will take 30 turns for writing, i think we need more cities.
i canceled the wonder, (sorry) but i thought we needed more land before we take on such a task.

well heres the save
