it is possible that Nicholaas I (you mean I guess) visited the Netherlands (maybe to pay a call to his sister), but he wasn`t the first one after Peter (and I cannot imagine him being interested in Zaandam - he was to stableminded for such sentiments ;))

oh yes, it's about Zaandam. Well then I most certainly don't know as I'm not aware of that many Russian czars. How about....Catherina? :p

is it considered cheating if your dad knows? otherwise I'll ask him. :D The right answer isn't Peter the Great is it? He came back you know. ;)

Of course but that's too easy with all those americans...

How come you not watching hte Feyenoord game ? AHHAHAHHAHA

The main reason Peter the great loved Holland was for the Delft Blauw porcelain you know , the russians copied it all over..
Have you been to St Petersburg ?
It looks so much like the Grachtengordel you would not believe it...
Peter was Great !

Being a French Dutchie, let's have some Napoleon questions...
Where did the English & Russians unite to beat Nap ?
They tried to get the Dutch to join but they said no thanks, Nap's better than the aristocrats ruling us before he came, the Republic is just bliss !

Leipzig? Waterloo?

In Leipzig and Waterloo I think troops from a dozen nations fought against Napoleon (Russian,British,Dutch,Prussian,Belgian,Austrian,Polish,Swedish etc.).
But I don't remember another battle with British troops Napoleon lost,so I say Leipzig as well?

It was in Holland.

It is not as famous a battle as you named already, but not an unknown either for certified historians like you...:D

Ancient Grudge is right, the Dutch did not really have an army (remember they had just been the vassal of Spain for centuries) but they had 'armed citizens' that the English and Russians wanted to secure on their side.

it was more to do with the political status of Holland, and ennemy sides wanting to stir some **** into Napoleon's provinces.
