Yes the Yamato's 18 inch guns would add a new dimension to Japan

Yamato wasn't so impressive really. It lacked radar, for one. For two it had extremely poor accuracy with those guns and I'd trade them any day for Iowa's guns (2x range and better accuracy) and it had really awful AA. The ony really good thing about the Yamato was the armour plate ... the Yamato had fantastic armour. But really it was the ideal WW1 ship, fighting in WW2.
