Shaitan is retiring as Land Office Manager. He has offered to stay on until he can train a replacement. Applications are accepted in this thread. If you want the job please make a post here stating your qualifications and the reason you want the job. Please include examples of your map and table making abilities. If you have any examples how the Land Office could be better run please post them - complete with maps and tables, etc. Feel free to make as many posts for your application as you feel are needed. :king:

the land officer should NOT be able to buy tiles himself from the pile he posts :-) but hey, i wont run :-P

Seeing as this office requires less work then that of the Bank, i will also run.
My credentials: An intracate knowledge of the bank book keeping service
Need for a job.
I plan on making tiles available the day after a turn chatm not directly after. this way, more people could get tiles. Also- i will keep the tiles the same price and be alerted whenever a tile modified and reflect the change in earnings.
in conclusion, Stuck for Land

I am not impressed with any of the candidates yet. I've not seen one map posted! This job requires the ability to post maps so citizens can see which tiles are available and which are already owned by someone else. We have more land open now that we have the capital and a new city. Applicants should post maps of these new lands here.

We are looking for someone to run the Land Office the way Shaitan ran it. While we are certainly open to suggestions for running things better, any changes must be approved by the RPG managers. I would also point out that many more lands will soon be available making this job more and more work for the Land Office Manager. Applicants should take this into consideration.

I'm seriously considering having the new manager post bond. This means the new manager would have to put up a sizeable amount of gold to be held in trust. Should the job not be done, be done poorly or incorrectly then all or part of the manager's bond/gold would be taken as a fine.

Given what I said in the last post about the workload I will see what can be done to make this a well paying job for a manager who does it well.

I am also not opposed to splitting the responsibilities. We could hire one person to be in charge of land titles. This person would post the maps and tables showing who owns each tile. Another could be the Patent Officer in charge of selling new lands as they become available. Still another could be the Land Revenue Officer responsible for posting land revenues each chat. Someone would still have to post the redistribution of land sales revenue.

Maps are no problem. As the former cartograpic head, these maps should be easy. Just give me some time to come up with a new scheme.

As for changes I would make, there would be many to ensure that everyone got a chance to own land.
First of all, the release times of land would be randomized. No one, other than me, would know when the land was available. This would keep everyone on their toes, and ensure that everyone would have an equal chance of getting land.
Second, stricter restrictions would be placed on current land owners. If you already own a tile, you could only purhase another after a new release after 24 hours. This time would be long for those who own an even greater amount of land.
Third, to equal things out, one or two tiles would be auctioned. Not only does this give everyone an equal chance, they would also bring higher prices. These higher land prices would be beneficial, also, to current owners, as they would recieve larger kickbacks.

Just give me some time for that map...

Like Octavian said, Randomness is the key to insureing that everyone gets tiles. Under my proposal, Updates will go up whenever i decide they will (ie- we may go for two TC's without a land update, allowing there to be more tiles for sale to more people)
The land office would buy a few tiles to auction them off. Weve all seen how much Acroma can fetch from their auctions. Imagine the land office being able to do that.
Also- a waiting period is a must. If youre shaitan (sorry, first name that came to mind) and you have that huge estate, you will need to wait 24 hours, plus 10 minutes per tile owned. (keeps people with large estates from getting more quickly)
also- if you own a business that can purchase land, you and the business cannot purchase land at the same time.

And as for maps. Give me a 40j map, and my mac with photoshop 7.0 on it. You'll have a good map up and ready.

24 hours?!? I don't like that at all... all the newbies will come in, buy up tiles and leave the RPG.

This is not the place to debate changes in how new tiles are to be distributed. When I asked for examples of how the Land Office could be run better I meant how could we better run the Land Office under the current rules. Otavian X and SAaM, you are proposing rule changes not better ways of running the Land Office under the given rules. If you like, open a thread about better ways to sell new lands. Just remember that new rules have to be approved by the RPG managers.

The things I posted are ways that I thought it could be run better. Otherwise, I'd run the office as well as Shaitan does. A new thread would be called for, and I might use an excel file along with a list in
Code:
tags, otherwise I'd run it just like Shaitan, with my rule changes included.

I would run this office like shaitan did. I would keep up to date on all tile information, and umm... yea. :)

That's a good start SAaM but we have to be consistent with our grid numbering system or else confusion will reign. Can you redo your map using the established grid numbering system?
