New Let's Plays

So it is. That's a bit goofy, that the same structure requires a completely different technology.

Setting it up to allow it to come from Earth is different to sending stuff to Earth.

No you didn't. ;)
Brasilia was going full throttle for Harmony in the video.

Ah. I presume one of the guys from the Masterclass Stream was mistaken then. I recall them mentioning that version of General Brasilia being the Supremacy version. Or my eyesight is failing me.

Check out the very beginning of Solar Gamer's video. He sits on the main menu for a bit and you see North America at night. Sea level must have gone up because South Florida is gone and there is a big notch in the Gulf Coast.

Aegis
120 production, 1 titanium, 1 floatstone and requires Purity level 7
Move:2, Range:2, Melee:20, Ranged:40

And surrogacy gives +40xp to purity. (From what I've seen, T3 leaf techs give +40 to affinities.)

Found an honest-to-goodness three hour long LP on high difficulty by an actual civ fan!

EDIT: Fair warning - don't expect high-level strategy.;)

You lucky dog!

You poor soul!

Thanks for all the tests, ggmoyang! One more question: was it fun?

Holy cows. That dude was kind of driving me nuts. I'm half way through but man, super obvious stuff just seems to elude him.

Cloud cover? Brownout? Katrina IX passing through? ;)

You know, for the Giant Bomb let's play, that was the first time I've seen sponsors land and their greeting screen was just pitch black with audio in the background. They just stumbled onto the first bug/glitch in the game. I hope our friends in Firaxis saw the video and are aware it's there so they can fix it.

If I had that glitch in my version I know it would get old fast.

Yeah, I recall early video glitches like that in Civ V until I got a newer graphics driver. I also saw another BE preview video today where the leader animation worked, but the figure's teeth gleamed in a way similar to a graphics glitch that I'd also seen early in Civ V. Since Civ V now plays fine on my machine, I have to guess that there are graphic changes in BE that they have not quite solved video compatibility with yet.

While I never had glitches like that, my Civ V also ran more smoothly after I got a new graphics driver. I hope my computer specs are good enough as is that it can handle Beyond Earth. If it can't, I'll see about upgrading my laptop again.

I am hesitant to put this one here but our German friends have another one:

Which of these let's plays are good? I'm looking for one where the player knows what he's doing.

Most of them don't understand some of the basic mechanics very well, unfortunately. I'd like to see a competent Lets Play, but we may have to wait a while.

I tried watching GameFront, but just couldn't stand it. He's completely clueless, and also slow. I mean if you're going to spend 2 minutes on every action, you could at least read what things do. Or even notice what unit you have selected.

I can tolerate the awful strategic choices he made - that just makes the game more entertaining. But basic stuff like being able to move your units correctly, or the ability to compare 4 vs 5? Too painful, even for me.
