These are my suggestions for new map types:
Large Islands (archipelago map with lots of somewhat large islands (between 17 tiles and 25 tiles)
Great Forest: mostly forest tiles, with some jungle at the center
Large continents: continents that take up most of the map, and only a few ocean tiles are in between.
Flood Plains: a land dominated by many rivers, great for high gold and production
Lakescape: A reverse Archipelago map, with a complete Pangaea covering the entire map, with some large and small lakes.
And my suggestions for terrains:
Isthmus: a strip of land between two bodies of water. it can have a canal built on it, allowing naval units to move across.
Straits: a narrow strip of water separating two land masses, it can have a suspension bridge built on it, allowing land units across without movement cost. without bridge, it acts like a river, ending that units movement.
