Some of you might remember my thread about the problems I had with my RAM a while back.

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=128011&highlight=ram+error

Well, it seems to be happening again.

I haven't had any BSODs yet, but it keeps crashing on me, and I tested the RAM with Memtest and it came up with errors.

Now, I don't know if this is related but this time (like last) the room has been VERY hot, as our central heating down and this room is one of the only ones with electric heaters (which need to heat the whole house...).

So, I was wandering if it had anything to do with either the motherboard in the PC, or the cooling or power supply, and if I should buy a new one of any of them. Or if anything else can be done (I don't want to keep having to buy new RAM everyime this happens).

For RAM i've got 2x Corsair XMS ProSeries - memory - 512 MB - DIMM 184-pin - DDR.

For a motherboard i've got Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9.

Power supply - 300 Watt Fortron Source PFC.

I'm running an AMD 3400+ and a GeForce 6600.

And if I do need to buy any new components, can anyone recommend any? And for a mobo it would need to support most or all of what I use already, and I can supply more info if needed.

Thanks :).

If memtest is showing errors, it means at least part of your memory is bad. Not much else to it.

Since you have 2 DIMMs try one at a time with memtest to see if only one is bad. You shouldn't have to buy any new parts- Corsair memory comes with a lifetime warranty. Though if you bought the two DIMMs together as a matched pair, they may require you to return both even if only one is bad.

OK, thanks, so its just bad luck that this has happened again?

I'll try it out again later tonight when I don't need the PC and then see about getting them replaced.
