New pitboss

Hiya Metra!

Good to see you're still around.

I'll take up a slot if there's still one open for someone who hasn't played BtS, even SP, for over 2 years.

Is this Diplo, Diplo-Light or straight?

Cannot see anything noted on the thread but do you have any custom settings in mind?

Please tell me that this is not an Earth Map game!

Sure, guys. You are welcome. I am making a recap for settings/options voted on. If you have opinion about the settings, please, vote.

You are welcome Luthor_Saxburg. Very good, we are at thirteen players, which is excellent!

1. ReallyEvilMuff
2. Imp. Knoedel
3. civtilidy
4. 2metraninja
5. Filon
6. dick76
7. HBHR
8. Elkad
9. Hercules90
10. classical_hero
11. methinkso
12. Friendly Fire
13. Luthor_Saxburg

And here are the preferences votes:

Code:
			game speed	map difficulty

1. ReallyEvilMuff	quick inland sea	noble
2. Imp. Knoedel normal fractal noble
3. civtilidy normal continents	noble
4. 2metraninja quick continents	emperor
5. Filon quick inland sea	emperor
6. dick76 quick continents	noble
7. HBHR normal fractal noble
8. Elkad normal no preference	emperor
9. Hercules90 normal continents	noble
10. classical_hero	quick pangaea emperor
11. methinkso
12. Friendly Fire
13. Luthor_Saxburg

which gives us a tie 5 vs 5 for game speed, most popular map continents with 4 votes and 6 vs 4 for noble vs emperor difficulty.

As ReallyEvilMuff said, we might had lost civtilidy for the game. I had PMed him and if he does not reply in 2 days, he will be removed, which might change the outcome. We also have our new participants methinkso, Friendly Fire and Luthor_Saxburg to give their preferrences in the same 2 days from now, which can change the vote too.

I had spoke with SevenSpirits from RB to make the random snake pick order with rnd.org and then to generate the map for us and check it to ensure no one is screwed seriously by the map script. So, in 2 days we start to pick leaders and nations and hopefully we can launch the game somewhere in the second half of the next week. :)

I'd like to join, but I think we will play for 1 civ with Filon.

I suggest to try Earth3 script. It is same as Earth2, but civs can spawn in new world too. What do you think?

By playing 1 civ you guys have 1 vote :) Still, there 2 days for other to possibly change their preferences.

Regarding the settings I would say the following:
SPEED: normal
MAP: Random
DIFFICULTY: Prince (just to be in the middle)

I would suggest to have a "non tech trade" option.

Well, here we had gone with voting about those arguably most important settings of the game. It is supposed to be relaxed game for people who barely know each- other and the idea is to please the widest possible group of players by adopting the most popular choices.

As I said I am trying to re- build the CFC pitboss community. For many of the players this will be the first ever pitboss. After this game, when people know each-other more, and they have some experience and opinion on settings and such, they might be more willing to make experiments.

Another late joiner here, if it's still possible. Or if it isn't I could team up with somebody if anyone wants some input.

No, I haven't, though I've lurked a couple in rb. As I understand it, it's a lot faster than pbem. What time limit would we have for the turns? Do we have turnsplits outside of wars for example in settling races?

So then you are aware this is a long- term investment and the game is likely to continue over an year before completion and players are expected to act like grown- ups :)

Please vote your preferences about game speed, map type and dificulty.

For turns, the norm is 24 hours when there are no wars. Once wars start to break out, then we might increase it to 36 hours. I dont think we will need a turn order between players for peace time, as even if we do want such, I dont know a good rule about it and even more a good way to actually make it work.

Speed: normal
Map: continents (and balanced, but I trust Seven knows what he's doing)
Diff: emperor

Btw if one misses a turn, do the workers and cities keep doing what they were told? So missing a turn would only mean missing chance to change orders?

Yes, missing turn will be like forcingly hitting EndOfTurn in a SP - all units set to move move, all workers set to work work, money are added/substracted to/from your coffins, GPpoints too, food, production, all.

What map size are you going for? I guess this depends on map type and the amount of people but would be nice to have a rough idea.
