Hiyas, I just purchased Civ 3 online so no physical manuel to read but been reading here so far so good .

Heres my first question, at the beginning I take my settler and build city, then I create a worker and auto him. Next warrior types are being made, is there a way to stop production so I can focus on other tasks ?

I've only played Age of empires 2 and this is vastly different, in AoE2 I would focus on economy and defence first, is there something similiar I can do in Civ 3 ?

Thanks for any input :)

First do not automate workers. If you go to your preference setting you can select always ask for the next build and wait at end of turn. This gives you a chance to changes things.

There is a list of training games in the Sucession forum. Select one and read the early parts to see what actions they take and why they are taken.

AoE and Civ are really nothing alike. With that being said, try joining a training SG when one comes up. Overseer might be starting SGFN-09 soon, since 08 has been over for some time. I have no proof of that, just assuming... :mischief:

If (for some reason) you don't want to be actively building something, set your city(ies) to produce Wealth - that will give you +1gpt for every 8 Shields the city produces. That said, there's really no point to never building anything, and since it's a Turn-based game, you have all the time in the world to 'focus on other tasks.'

I am due, aren't I? Maybe I should at least start an interest thread, see if we can get a team together and play a fun variant.

I vote yes on that... if I get a vote.

@ rumbarr: check out the War Academy for a lot of good info that was never in the original manual.

Not trying to hijack, but I'm intersted.

@Rumbarr- WELCOME! The best pieces of advice I've heard are: Don't stint on workers. Road a lot. Think early on what kind of victory you want and build units and imporvemnts accordingly-just because you can build it doesn't mean you should. Plan to trade technologies-at the lower levels you can research your way to a spaceship vitory alone, but trading is helpful at higher levels and worht getting the feel of.

Thanks for the replys everyone and yea I'd be interested in playing a scenario with you all . Just give date and time, I'm there =)
