New PTW Box Art

How about a new box is designed which looks like garnish? Wouldn't that be nice?

Garish means at attempt to look flashy but instead looking cheap and shallow. Like "Holy toledo, her makeup is garish!"

But I don't think the box is that. Looks good to me. Better than a boring old globe. This will jump off the shelf at you. I hope they didn't put things on the box that aren't in the game, though.

Thx, the word wasn't in my dictionary, so "use the dictionary" would not do for me!

But i must disagree with the last thing you said. Between the millions of shoot em up and fighting game boxes the new art would in fact be "well camouflaged". With the old art, it looks from a distance as if the box has a more uniform color, now THAT would jump at you between all the small bits of color that are covering the other boxes.

Personally; Civ3 is, after all, still one of those "boring" "old" turn based strategy games. (note the '""' marks) And I think the box should PROUDLY show of that status with a very "calm" boxart.
By being to proud to allow themself to be dragged along with the latest hypes and everything flashy, and continuing their own style, Firaxis (or sid) can turn a fanbase, into a very loyal fanbase!

I believe it might be an alternate cover. Experience shows that games ship in different countries/regions with different covers.

I like the dirty fingernails on the new box design. It gives it a warm earthy feel - not garish like most game boxes. Even more dirty would be better.

I still think though that we really need a box with garnish on it to settle down all the resentment over garishness. I would be a nice compromise between those who like dirty fingernails and those who like a box with a dull grey planet on it.

This box looks really cool. To me, there's no arm westling, but it's something like shaking hands. Get it? Meaning that in Multiplayer games, diplomacy will be even more important than it is today in Singleplayer.

The older box was good also, but I never had the feeling that it represented the world.
The new one has the Pyramids, the Eiffel Tower and something like a Cathedral representingthe world, has helicopters, a sub and a caravel showing the diferents units that we can control.
The hands simply show you will go throu diferent ages.

To me, the new one is more "CIVilized" than the old one.
