Calgacus requests that the idea of a Quiz forum should be considered. The reasons are numerous, including 1) Quiz forum allows more obscure quizes to be started and to live without plunging down into the depths of a forum and to death through obscurity. 2)Quizes clutter up the the threads on which they reside. There are many who like them, but many more who never bother with them. A quiz forum would be a place where those who like them can be separatred from those who don't for the purposes of these quizes. 3)A quiz forum would be fun. Civ3, civ2, history and OT quizes could all come together.

I doubt my request will be accepted, but I make it nevertheless through pure hope. :)

You must show there's actually a real demand for it, and demonstrate to TF's satisfaction why it's better to set up a separate subforum for it. Or dependant on TF's mood.

Otherwise, unlikely to happen, as it'll require yet more work for the staff (i.e. yet another subforum to mod). ;)

It's a good idea. But it won't work. Mods would also have to check the answers to all the questions so nobody's cheating. Also it's another forum to mod. Although I'd mod if I could. ;)

Do mods check any of the current threads for cheating?
How would they detect if people were cheating?
Who cares if people are cheating?

This seems very schoolyardish. People here are supposed to be treated as adults, and to act with integrity. Surely we could look after our own threads, and not need someone to hold our hands!

And why are quiz threads so popular? The real problem with the current quiz threads is that people are using them to boost there post count. Lots of I answered that question, the person who asked it hasn't been here for 5 minutes, so I'll ask another one - my answer MUST have been right! mentallity.

The quiz threads at GC run much better - the person who asked the question has to confirm that the answer is correct before a new one is asked. Who cares if it takes a day or two? Its about having fun, posing challenging questions and learning. Not about answering / asking as many questions as you possibly can in as short a time period as possible.

Postcount could be disabled there... :mischief:

Actually that's not a joke. The quizzes have lately mutated into two-person spamfests for hours. That's not interesting for anyone except maybe those two people.

I'm all in favour of the rule that the one who gave the last question shouldn't be allowed to answer the next (like in WA long ago). That's of course not dependant on a new forum. ;)

Certain poster actually do that. We need to make it a rule, however.

All games should be cleared through Lefty or myself, as TF doesn't like certain kinds of games.

As of now, if you don't know the answer, don't post, I will take action on the little spams to increase post count.
