New Scenario requires playtesting . . .

Makes sense, but players can still get around the restriction for their sakes (as I spoke of on the post).

I've sent some stuff to Russia :)

players can "get around" the rigid zones of control, BUT . . . they have to be allied, and that requires a player's approval. This is quite different than numerous, unwanted trade units blundering around inside an empire. The European part of the map is small enough so that an apparently unintentionally deployed trade unit could significantly disrupt movement. This is unrealistic and not the outcome I wanted to see.

Greetings friends!

Some new trade routes with the US has been established. And a Freighter is expected to arrive in Sidney, Australia in a month.

Our Veteran forces in French Indo-China is preparing for battle against the orientals for the city of Mandalay. The city will be in our hands in a coupple of months:mwaha: . Our colonial troops is always vicorious.

The city of Tunis in North Afrika are also a possible target for us to capture. Tunisian mercants have raided our cities and we must set our foot down and conquer them. They are not worthy of making peace with. It is our whomen and children that had to suffer during their raids:mad: . There are no excuses for that:ar15: .

I hope that the international community will support this punishment action:die: .

In advance, thank you!

Napoleon III of the French:)

It's Sydney :p

Well excuse me! I am French you know:( It it is not as easy for me to pronounce the words correctly. Or spell them or what ever... I am trying my best...

Germanos, it's your turn...

Eivind, I thought that you were Norwegian ;)

Lots of Europeans spell Sydney 'Sidney' for some reason. At least you guys don't confuse Australia with Austria like Americans sometimes do :(

Well, it is the Germans turn, not Germanos turn....

Anyway, I read in another thread that Tracid was not able to play any of his PBEM's before friday, so we have to be a little more patient.

Thanks for the *bump* though Case;)

Hey, I've never heard an American do that. :( The only folks that would mix them up are just stupid, and there are stupid people everywhere.

Yepp! I am Norwegian, but I take my part in this game very seriously and in this game I am French!:p

And I agree with Darius. Only stupid people would mix up Austria and Australia.;)

So long!

Ok, today I'm going around trying to find subs for all my games as I will also be gone for three weeks, from Thursday, June 20 to Thursday, July 11 to be precise. I am going to put up threads here and at Apolyton to hunt for subs, but before I do so I'm going to all of the games in which my civs have allies and asking whether my allied player would be willing to do my turns while I'm gone.

I don't have any allies in this game, but since there is a stable peace I thought there wouldn't be any conflicts of interest if another player here did the Russian turns. Would anyone here be willing to throw in the Russian turns while I'm gone, or should I find a sub for this one? Reply soon as I need to put up those sub-hunt threads soon.

The German Empire has moved.

State of the Union, April 1870

Congressmen, our standings in the World:

- No country has more approval among its citizens as the US
- No country has a higher GNP then the US
- The US is the wealthiest country in the World
- We are amongst the countries with the highest Literacy-rate
- The US citizens have the highest income per capita
- Productivity is the highest in the World
- The US is only second to Britain in Population. Currently a million immigrants arrive each month
- Immigration will make up for the fact we have the second lowest birth-rate in the World
- The US is only second to Britain in total production. More efforts must be made to close this gap
- The US is only second to Britain in territory.
- Pollution in the US is very low, only the unindustrialized nations of the independents and Japan do better
- Our health-care system is just a complete mess! Disease is at the worst level possible.
- Life expectancy is therefore the lowest in the World.
- We need to increase our militairy budget, a nation as big as ours cannot rank 4th in the World!

A trade embargo is declared for all German goods to enter the US. This follows the insulting attitude of the Germans: they have not answered to the US trade-commision, and the German captain has fled the Port of Washington without paying his fine. US army has therefor seized two freights with cargo. The senate has endorsed this action, and several senators have expressed their support for the Grant-administration if a full scale war will be the result of these economic restrictions. This after reports of German merchants driving the trucks shouting agrily that Germany has declared war on the US. Evidence of German vessels carrying militairy equipment was found by US-navy vessels.
The US however stresses once again that this dispute could be settled if Germany will comply with talks on the fine for the German Captain. The US trusts that Germany will see this conflict only hurts Germany itself. The seizure of the two freights has allready cost Germany an estimated 3000-5000 Dollars. To allow de-escalation of this trade-war, US-navy vessels have not seized German steamers of the US coast, but will do so if no agreement can be reached, and Germany must instruct its embassador to issue an official peace-agreement with the US.

Due to the tensions between Germany and the US, talks with France and Russia on a trade alliance has been postponed to give both countries to asses the new situation. Nonetheless two Freights reached French and Russian destinations. Strangely enough Russian envoys declared WAR on the US when freighters reached the gates of Russian cities?!? The US believes this must be a mistake, and that relations will be improved next turn.

U.S. Grant, Prez.

N.B.: the us has now knowledge of economics, and is willing to share this knowledge with any interested country.

Germany hereby declares an embargo existing against the United States of America. We will immediately pull everything back from your shores and from your waters, everything that cannot be pulled back within the next turn will be dispanded. No American merchant vessels will be allowed in german national waters, and american freights will be seized wherever they meet with german troops in response to the current action. All german diplomats will be recalled from the US, and US diplomates will be givven 1 week to board a ship to leave Germany.

Didn´t see your pm at first, but doesn´t matter now, does it.

Kaiser von Bismarck,

The US was amazed by your silence. We received information that the PM was received and read. Furthermore the blocking of Washington was reported in the State of the Union in March. Therefore the US was led to believe Germany mocked the US.

To the US it is now not clear if Germany just declares a trade-embargo, or if Germany considers itself at war with the US. If it is merely a trade embargo, and Germany will only take action against trade-units, we require that at least a cease-fire will be put in place next month. If no reply to this request is received before May 1870 (US-time), the US will consider itself at war with Germany, and all German units must fear for attacks by US army or naval units.
In case of a trade-emborgo only, the US wishes to know what are considerd Germans waters. The US is looking for de-escalation of the current crisis, and hope a cease-fire will be put in place soon, in which case the US will guaranty a safe retreat of German vessels from US-waters.

Germanos, Vice-Prez.

Official statement:
The French government condemns this act of provocation by the Germans against the US. The French demands the imedeate withdrawel of the German forces on the coast of America. The French fully understand the frustration of the Americans. Napoleon III of the French follows up the trade embargo. German goods are now illegal in the French Empire. In case of war, the Germans will have to deal with France as well. Let peace prevail, withdraw!
