It is 1500 A.D. and naval power in Europe begins to make an impact. Five soon to be naval powers vie for global dominance -

England,
France,
Spain,
Portugal and
the Netherlands.

What stands in their way?
the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the dominant land power
the Muslims led by the Ottoman Empire,
the bloodthirsty natives of Africa,
the powerful Asians dominated by China
the disunited tribes of the Americas

What are the strategic options?
Ally with other powers or go it alone?
Expand peacefully or through conquest?
Focus on trading or colonization?
Build up your navy or merchant fleet?
Research advanced ship designs or modern terrestrial weapons?

Special Features
AI has innate advantages when they play the human-capable powers
Full research tree with unique units/wonders by powers and religious affiliation
Built in branching to make no two games the same.
Objective based on the Civ powergraph
Fully updated civpedia, even with description of advances

Your terrain looks interesting, do the blue patches symbolise floods or irrigation?

Ahh, very well! Good idea :goodjob:

Political map eh? :goodjob:

How long until it is PBeM ready? :)

It is PBEM ready - just that the patch has music and other decorative stuff. You can't apply the patch while a game is in progress since the names of the sound files differ. So I'm just encouraging everyone to wait a day or two till the patch is hosted (its been ready for months).

Oh and Great Briton = Great Britan and Shakespear = Shakespeare

Great Britan = Great Britain ;)

Like the idea of a political map :goodjob:

Wow. That's really awesome! I especially love the idea of turning "Virgin land" into "colonized land." I wish I thought of that earlier!

How does the AI pick up on this idea?

The AI doesn't pick up on the idea. The concept is, you are poor and the AI isn't cause it never pays for maintennance costs and it doesn't have full rows shields. So you have to waste time as a human player to colonize the land, giving the AI an advantage when its playing one of the races meant for humans. This is one of the ideas I introduced to make the main tribes AI or human playable. Along the same lines, humans will need to send out merchant ships to collect goods to have a balanced budget, the AI controlled powers will not need to bother with this.

So when in single player the blue really represents the area that belongs to you ,while in multi-player, the blue represents the land which belongs to Europeans.

Any room for the glorious Danish colony Tarangambadi?

It was a colony founded by the Danish Eastindian Company(DEC) in 1620. DEC, Denmarks first stock company, was a firm born on the 17. of March 1616 in the hope of reaching the riches of the Far East. In 1618 a first expedition went away arriving 18 months later in Tarangambadi located on the Southindian east cost. Here the leader of the expedition, Ove Gjedde, held negotiations with the Tamilian Emperor Raghunatha. He succeded in buying the small village and gaining trade concessions on behalf of the Danish king Christian IV, thus beginning 225 years of Danish rule.

As for most of the other few Danish colonies Tarangambadi didn't pay off. But today the ruins of a fort together with a city gate and several mansions are present. Though in a very poor shape, funds are finally arriving from Denmark.

Regards

Now looking for players in the PBEM forum

this is what I mean by political map. See the red lines, they demarcate the original borders between empires. Also note the coasts, the land stands out of the ocean.
