New Turn - 1300 AD

This forum is quite slow these New Years' days. Perhaps partly because there has been no picture. Oct, please be sure to provide a link to both the next game sav file, and also to a picture jpg that people can review. Perhaps slow for other reasons, or that so much gruesome detail is planned.

The poll approves rehoming the Civ Caravel in Penguin, to release a Civ Musket. I think we need it in Indian Watcher, to expel any Indian Dip climbing over the mountains. Of course, the CS Caravel with Dip will head SW to the ignored Isle SW of Elysium. Regarding Hladir, I wish our men had time to heal, could do so safely, and at the same time prevent the Vikings from stealing our technology.

It's the nature of the beast. The Holidays are always a tough time to have people particpate. I only hope that it will rebound sometime soon.

If anyone else is able or inclined, they can get some screenshots up, otherwise I can try to get a few more up tonight. I had already posted ones of the major areas of interest. What shall the new ones be of? The world map? Full view of the Vikings? Sections of our Empire?

We can expel the indian diplomat if we choose to. I didn't becasue I wanted to have everyone give their views on it. Expelling the diplomat can make our relations with the Indians go down. And, since the city is right in their face, it can be back in a couple turns. Do we expel it each time? Maybe we should bribe it and handle that way?

The ship with the diplomat was going to the Isle SW of Elysium, spotted an Indian Elephant on it, as well as an Indian Trireme. Our ship then shadowed their trireme to keep tabs on it. I didn't want to land the diplomat without having an idea of if we wanted to bribe the elephant that was already there.

It is with a heavy heart that I found out my parnets think me attending a party is more important then the democracy game. I will have access for a little tomorrow, but not enough to play.

Jayne, DoM, can either of you play tomorrow?

Final Plan for 1300AD

I just reviewed all of the cities, and attempted to correctly integrate all of the approvals and plans. This is only the recent changes and very important items. Other plans apply, with more recent entries replacing older ideas: Build Q, Settlers, Caravans in poll thread, and the original Download Changes and Quick Observations.

FIRST: Clear.Orders Cold Front & Mining N of CJ!? Click on these before you do anything else, so they can move this turn, rather then complete current project. Also Caravel S of Beast to Penguin and rehome there, pick up Penguin Settler. Unfortify one of the Civ Muskets and walk to ship to ... Isle (Approved)? Nemo prefers to reinforce Indian Watcher.

REGIA CIVITAS: Market, grass serf into ocean (Listed)
Elysium serfs: Silk Gems Whale, 4 Roads and Scientist, 7 shields.
Buy Harbor $108, so Aquaduct 60/80 in 3 turns (Approved)
Civvium: both serfs forest, Market in 1, then Aquaduct. (A)
TFalls: Van 45/50 Gems? Dye? Silk? then... Market (see poll)
Gabba Gabba: Van 46/50 in 1, WINE (L)
Penguin Flats: Freeze growth grass to forest, Silk Van in 10
Frozen Toe: Temple in 6 ok. Or Elvis and celebrate now? ?

Marl Downs=5: forest to road, Celebrates, Market in 3, Aquaduct?
Octavia: shield to river, Elvis, Celebrates, Settler in 1 (L)
Neuma=4: celebrating, grass to Forest, Crusader? in 4
Melampyrum: fish to GLS, grows in 1, Celebrates? Temple

Reneaux: Aquaduct 13/80 in 17 just fine for now.
Mulled Mine: serf to road, Dip in 5, Temple (L)
Uppsala: Dip 6/30 in 4, hire Elvis and celebrate! (N)
Erikkson: grass serf to Forest, Temple in 20 (L)

Changes after one or more turns - 1300AD

RC: growing madly, new serfs to road or ocean! (L)
Elysium: after Aquaduct in 3, start Dip? Avoid Irrg? (N)
Civvium 1320AD: serf on new Plains road, max trade & 1 Forest
Gabba Gabba: WINE Van 46/50 in 1, start another Van, grow on irrg
Bedfont Lakes & Beast Flats: Temple in 5, then Van! (L)
Octavia: Sett 35/40 in 1, then another Sett (L)
Eboracum: Silk Van in 3. Then Settler & Irrigate (L)

Hipsheim: Van 42/50 in 2, Silver to Elysium, rehome, into RC?
build another Van. More cities need to build Vans.
Monks Towne: Crusader 33/40 in 3, then Caravan (L)
Legendary City: Market 63/80 in 3, then Caravan (L)
Udal: reduce food, serf to Plains, Temple eventually

Generally start Caravans, not more Markets or improvements.

Hello everyone and happy new year! :D

I'm starting a new job on Monday so today may be my last visit for some time.
 :(
Even so, here are some thoughts:
The Indian dip by our new and beautifully titled city may be on a road, but aren't our musketeers all on forest and jungle tiles? Maybe I'm missing the fact that there is a road on one of these tiles, but surely we could withdraw these troops by at least one square and then expel the dip once it has entered our territory. That would not harm our reputation so badly. Would it?
We have to get as much work out of our engineers as possible but don't go overboard on building more because the two food each can often prove costly and I've had trouble in my own games
with stagnant cities desperately needing irrigation before they can support the settlers I built willy-nilly.
Great job on getting all the maps Duke, and our exploration seems to be going really well. :goodjob:

As final plans have been posted, I shall attempt to play today. Lucy is due to sleep soon. As I wasn't expecting to play, I've not made any notes yet, so it'll take me a little time to be ready. I'll post again when I start playing.

I'm going to start now. I'll post savegame first when I'm done, then log, then screenies later. Hopefully I've not missed anything!
