My first attempt at creating units. This transport was used extensively in WWII in the Pacific for supplies and troop transport. It allowed quicker troop movement to front lines in Civ's Pacific Campaign.

Thanks!Yes this is my first post. I wanted to give a little something back to those of you who have made Civ great and have kept me and my son playing for years. I've used this unit to move troops to cities that have no airport. I'm trying to mimic the U.S. ability to capture an island and bring supplies and troops in quickly. The sea bees could get a landing strip going in weeks in the Pacific. In my games I've given this unit very little strength hoping that if it were to be attacked it would get destroyed quickly. Furthermore, it can only carry one foot troop at I time and I made it cheap to build. Unfortunely, It gives the Americans a big advantage in the game because they do not need an airport to land troops quickly into a city that has been captured (My son likes to move troops to the action quickly). Since I've played with this unit, I've never lost one in action. I transport troops by loading them on the C47 and then rebasing and I think the AI has problems with this. The WAV file has never kicked in, I'm still figuring out why it hasn't worked. However, I downloaded it from a C47 Dakota web site that recorded the actual planes taking off and powering up its engines. I thought it would be neat to include. At present I'm working on the PBY Catalina. Recon planes were extremely important in the Pacific.

ago1000, your Unit Looks Good from what I can see. I have not loaded it in my game yet but I did correct the sound you included in the zip. CIV III uses 22,050 Hz 16 Bit, Mono 43KB/s and your sound was 22,050 Hz 8 Bit, Mono 22 KB/s. The sound length is the same but I did lower the sound level just a little.
You can use the Sound Recorder in your computer (in accessories) to increase or decrease the sound level...and to check and or change sounds to be compatible with CIV III.

Here is the sound Zip:

Nice to see C-47:) But if you have created it for Pacific Theatre, remove then black and white stripes, wchich were used in Europe only, as part of quick identification between Allied and German planes.

Hi folks:
Thanks once again to Gogf (the preview) and Vuldacon (for the wav conversion) and Amesjustin, Straczynski, Pol_Cop for your suggestions. I've eliminated the stripes to make it more appropriate for the Pacific Theatre. Furthermore, I've added a few more images to the run file. As requested I've also included the C47Large.pcx and C47small.pcx. Enjoy.

1. No problem for helping.
2. Do you want me to make a preview of this one too?
3. Sounds good, I'll download it in a bit.

I found a conversion software in the utilities forum. Thanks Godf. I thought I would try to post a preview.
Here I go.
