I does get rather annoying. I'm as American as the next guy, but geez, we have a lot of US units anyway. I'd personally like to see more European alternatives. At least one for the rifleman.

Well the idea is to make them unit by yourselves, not to swallow up other people's ones and somehow patchwork them into your own arsenal by finding some sort of use for them (this unit is the original dropship from the Motion Picture "Aliens", and serves not the USMC, but the USCM (Colonial Marine Corps)
We are not gonna claim Sci-Fi units for the US Army, now are we ??

Actually though, the Colonial Marines were American, now that I think about it.

They are in fact supposed to be Anglo-Sino-Japanese forces under US command 
if you follow the story (nonetheless I'd rather see this unit as a Sci-Fi upgrade for Helicopters, and the APC to it as a recon unit - infantry makers anyone?)
And according to the Alien documentation the USCM were formed in 2101 sooo- it is a bit faaaar off...

I have been looking all over the forums to be used as a Heavy Lifter for the Turret unit
