New Unit: early mounted gunpowder unit

I have been looking for a Gunpowder Age Horsemen :). Now I need to redo the animation links in my Imperialism Mod.

Pistolier was one of their name in the French army, so it would be OK.

However, I don't see why everybody is trying to find another name than Reitre, when it is one of the most accurate historical one.

Would you try to replace Legionary by "Gladius equipped infantry that fight in turtle formation"?

Useful unit. Thanks. :goodjob:

Confusing: The Germans use the French word Cuirassier and the French the German word Reiter for the same type of unit. :crazyeye:

Hence my suggestion of Tactic Type + Unit Type.

"Caracoler" or "Caracolier" (hèhè, just some invented names there, although I'll probably used the Latinized German Reître as Steph suggests).

Yay, thanks for the cool unit, BeBro!

Why not use the old German word for Reiter then: "Reuter" !

edit: by the way- this unit is excellent :D it ought to become a no-resource unit for late medieval times along with the early medieval knights you made. The knights would upgrade to the Dragoon, while the 'Reuter' would upgrade to Cavalry.

BTW: Bernd, I know you have a busy schedule- and something I momentarly lack myself: A life. Yet I was wondering if you'd be able to modify this unit slightly so as not to wear plating around the arms, adding feathers to the helmet, and changing the weaponry to a lance ? i.e. a lancier or early Ulan...

I might if I was going to use the Legionary unit for all civs.

That's even more lame than giving the M1 Abrams to every civ like the original unmodded game does (or did over 2 years ago the one and only time I played it and suffered from post dramatic boredom disorder).

Awesome unit! This neatly fills the technological gap between knights --> ___ ---> dragoons --> cavalry. :goodjob:
Regarding the name, Warhammer calls this unit "Pistolier" too so I guess it's ok to use that.

It is an awesome unit, two weeks ago I was biting my lip because couldn't find similar. My heart filled with joy as I saw this unit! I'll use cuirassier as a name, since that is adapted to many languages. Kyrassieeri in Finnish.

Speaking of War Hammer, I wonder if ED knows about this unit. I'll have to PM him and make sure.

I'd like to thank everyone for all the units and mod creations. I just found this forum after being a lover of the game for many years. Keep up the amazing (and tiring) work!:)
