New Unit: Mongol Horde 10/31/03

Kal-El, if Kinboat would send the model to me, I'd be glad to animate it so he doesn't have to...

Actually, I was considering making some Mongol units with these models....

I think these are from a different era than Kinboat's... maybe when they had more of a budget? ;)

Here's a little something something I whipped up for the fortify animation.... if people like it, I'll do the same for the other two.

NOTE: The poor quality is the preview not the actual flc itself.

Yes, and now that I'm home for the semester, I intend to get a lot of units done! And I've improved some of my skills recently too, so my units will be even better...

I've also got a new fast computer that cuts rendering time to a tenth of what it used to be... hopefully I can have the first components of the cut and paste pack out within two weeks or so... I've already made a bunch of the animations with the harlequin.

Also, during breaks, I've been working on other units. Expect a nice little addition for those looking for more flavor units tomorrow or the next day... Actually, I don't know about tomorrow what with Conquests coming out! ;-)

Ugh, I've hijacked Kinboat's thread.

Good to have you back Dom. I look forward to seeing what you've got coming up.

Now we return this thread to it's regularly scheduled topic.

Sorry Kinboat.

I am happy to be able to announce that:

Due to his/her outstanding creativeness along the the GOTM # 25 Mongol Unit Set

*Kinboat*

has been awarded the TRT ANTIQUE AWARD exclusively reserved for creators whose makings, vision and perfection have enriched the Civ3 universe well above all expectations and rankings.

I hope you will accept the award and keep up the good work for many future Civilization generations to come!

Thanks... one question though... what's with the palm tree and spartan helmet? I sort of understand the spartan helmet (antique and all) but a palm tree? :)

Uhm :D welcome, first of all :) glad you like it !!!

Err, the Palm tree is actually the Afrika Korps expeditionary force one (or rather the palmtree of the Gruppe Afrika- as there were various versions of it):

Since neither T.R.T. nor I myself take any interest in fascism but unit making I replaced the Swas. (also because I think the Spartan Helmet fits perfectly with the idea of the antique award ;)) So, in the end you have a mix of historical and fictuous data- and even looks nice....

Just to add: This Palmtree emblem is still in use today with the Panzerbatallion 33 of the German Army in memory of the Africa Korps

Ah... ok, I get it now.
And don't worry I have no problem with you posting images that inform. At least that's one person that won't complain :)

 Whoa, nice unit here.

Sorry just to bump this up, but I wanna make sure no one misses this unit like I almost did. It's excellent for adding some spice to the Middle Ages conquest by including the mongol civ (vital considering the effect they had in history in that era).
