New Unit: Slann 12/18/03

I don't think I did anything different with the colors... I tried a slightly different method of creating the palette than I usually do, but I've done it with a few other units.

Here's the death...

It took about an hour and a half for each of the eight directions. Some of my old units took about this long (the cataphract was a long one) but this was before I started making my own models with a lot fewer polygons. This was the longest one I did in a long time.
Jabba might be a stretch... Jabba is more of a big slug while this guy is more like a frog. But it's possible :)
 
It's not a unit that I would ever use myself, but the artwork is amazing. Top quality stuff. :) I really appreciate the work that people like yourself put in to improve our Civ experience. :goodjob:
 
Nevertheless, this is a great great unit. We need oliphaunt riding haradrim now though :P

haha, sorry :blush:
it will function as wizard/wizard lord do for other civs, though with higher stats, huge HP bonus and probably ability to bombard; and of course as king unit in regnicide.
 
Curse you people and all your excellent suggestions that make more work for me :) I'd love to do an Oliphaunt... Bottom of the list though :D

Well let's see there are 10 creatures in that unit so it should get 30 hit-points right? :D
 
Well no matter how hard I searched last night, I couldn't find an Oliphaunt model for neither Poser or anything else. Having a model would sure make your job easier. But nevermind, it was just wishful thinking.

But you should think requests as compliments, you know :)

I'm jumping around a little but I have two more Lizardmen units half animated and then a few more Native American units to wrap up before I even think about modeling Kal-el's Egyptians (plus a few more scattered here and there)... I really don't work in a linear way, I skip around from project to project.
I don't think there is an animation category for the Nobel prize but thanks for the vote :D
 
I think this unit is amazing.. and having experience animating three or more figures in the same animation, I have to say, kudos on the beautiful job! It's not an easy task. I said that when I saw the preview for this unit a few months back.

I'd like to try out the fantasy mods that have all these cool units that Kinboat, embryodead, and Kindred have been putting out.

Well, you can play the warhammer mod then ;) (in the sig). It doesn't include the Slann yet, which will be in 2.0 version.
