New unit?

Isn't the Arab UU a Camel Archer?

Yes, but, i think there should be a camel unit, that all civs can get, provided they have the "camel" recource.

Uh, while you're at it, why not make an elephant resource? It never made sense to me that India could build elephants without needing ivory. Were they robot elephants, or something?

I'd really like to see gold become a strategic resource, needed for computer chips and/or mercenary units.

I dont think you should be suggesting relatively useless units as there are only going to be 85 units, which is less then Civ3 so its only going to have basic units, also its unsure if that includes UU.

There were several unit selections in Civ3 that i questioned -example- Tow over a Machine Gunner?
However, i like this Camel Archer unit- they needed some new units- a million civs have Medevil UU's in Chivalry - to many if u ask me - less units/ new units -it bespeaks of a welcome change. (And closer to the idea of eastern horse archers which are strangely lacking in Civ3 yet they were the basis of eastern armies- the one early horse archer in the game is - western?) The Keshik was a welcome addition but its -archerness? - was downplayed to the point of having a weak knight UU that can go on mountains- (from a people that rode on the steppes- tundra- not mountains?)

A camel should be an equivalent substitute for horses but have a speed advantage over desert, i.e., camel units can cross desert in 1 move vs. all other units which take 2. Perhaps to balance that, camel resources should be rarer and camel units should cost slightly more (maybe they're harder to train :-). Or maybe they have trouble in tundra.

You can justify not treating elephants this way because elephants weren't used as widely nor in as many ways as horses. There were simple camel riders, camel knights, camel cavalry, etc., but afaik, not nearly that wide a use of elephants. Also, horses and camels are similarly sized, but an elephant is much bigger.

I'm not saying there shouldn't be an elephant resource, just that it doesn't seem as important, and it shouldn't be a simple substitute for horses like a camel should be.

Ya the Keshik was a pointless unit. Id rather be a civ that has a great UU than a knight who can go fast on mountains.
