Here what I'd like to see, not as much as from a mod but from Firaxis themselves:

Attack Helicopter-popular on the forum, it's not a fighter/bomber that flies over head and drops stuff on the enemy, it's a flying tank. They should have similar stats to a tank and fly over terran/oceans, perhaps be more expensive or have lower stats to balance their moblity.

Partisans/Guerrilas-just like in CivII, when an enemy takes your city some citizens take to the hills. With the new "resistance" citizen already in effect there should be a lower chance of Partisans created and only for larger cities.

Mercenaries-land privateer. The thing with "pirate" units are

1. That they should have a small chance of triggering a war, there is the possibility that your enemy discover that you are funding them. Similar to combat resolution/goodie huts, the chance of being uncovered as your men should be done in advance.

2. Instead of a "Mercenary/Privateer" unit you should be able to use a normal unit as a flagless merc. Perhaps a new city improvement/civ advance will let you build them at increased cost.


Men At Arms-Rather than Bronze age Sword men have a Feudal Age one. Make it 4/2/1 and need Iron and you need less rescource, they're cheaper than Knights, but still aren't as good for defense as a Pikeman

Gimme any new ideas you have!
 
Attack Chopper- Already on the board. The graphics are cool, and it looks like it just came out of the game. :D

Men-at-arms- Added in the LWC mod.

As for the other two, I'm not sure. Maybe Firaxis will add them in an Expansion Pack, but I doubt it. :(
 
This one is easy to implement. I have a unit called Special Ops which has 12(6)/15/2 all terrain as road, stealth and hidden nationality. At the moment I am just using the files for marines to represent this unit. I take them as those special unit send in for insurgency in another country without declaring war.

The only problem I have with hidden nationality is the AI will attack them on sight. And if you have rails covering the whole map (which usually is the case towards the end of the game), the AI tends to patrol every single tile!!:mad: Which means they will discover the unit and attack it with all their units :( My unit hardly last more than 2 turns (after taking with them 10 or even 20 units of the enemy of course :D ) I find this a good way of killing the peaceful boredom, battle without war ;)

I have a new idea for a unit: A Sniper... i know it doesnt sound good, but imagine this: you see some units aproaching your cities... the sniper could have stealth and ranged attack... like attacking from 2 block or 3 away... it could work when you see overwhelmed with 20 units attacking... the sniper could take some of them away (1-bullet killing: you know a good sniper kills with one in the head). This is just a suggestion, but if ya make it, i would be grateful with the maker.

The unit can go into enemy territory and start attack their units without declaring war. Work just like a Privateer unit but on land:D This also give you a chance of getting Great Leaders without actually go into a full scale war (since you are fighting another AI and thats where GL came from)

I like the idea of sniper. But there are no ranged attack capacity in Civ3 other than bombardment and bombardment doesn't kill :(
What I have done is give the infantry some bombardment strenght (representing small motar fire, sniper etc in the unit). This way, any unit that tries to take the infantry headon will suffer some damages even before the battle :king:
 
what about the most powerful weapon ever used, the A-bomb
also would like to see german u-boats apache helicopter for americans. And dose any no how to get cruise missles on to battle ships or destroyers?

Isn't the nuclear weapon in the game good enough? I hate all those pollution that resulted from a nuclear attack:nuke:

In order to let a ship/submarine to carry the cruise missile, this is what you need to do :

1) Set the cruise missile as tactical missile as well
2) Set the ship/submarine to can carry tactical missile

However, once a ship can carry tactical missile, it means it will also be able to carry tactical nuclear.;)
 
The problem with a sniper is the vast scale of the game, an entire city is crammed into a single square and that gives a sniper a range of MILES/square! Plus sniper are usualy a couple to a handful of men, not the hundreds/thousands represented by a single unit. Snipers are capable of slaughter army's but themselves? Plus the game rule's mean a sniper that can kill infantry in one hit can kill tanks in one hit as well!
 
If only there was a neutron bomb. Probably some of you have heard of this before.

It's a bomb which destroys all living things but leaves the building intact. I've heard that it can even destroy some kinds of weapons or at least disable them. Some forms will leave plants and trees intact.

If only there was scripting, this bomb will make the city defenceless, and the population down to 1, but all buildings remain intact.
 
I recognise that an army of snipers can take out an army. but as someone said, the game doesnt have range attack but bombardment. A rocket infantry could work with bombardment... think about it

anyone have thoughts on chemical/biological weapons being added to the game . I know they're nasty but they are a major factor in modern warfare
 
I like the idea of a sniper. They can have a range of miles with todays weapons. I don't think they could kill an entire healthy army but how about a Gauranteed damage result.
One damage at range. Would be useful for picking off fast moving unit with one hitpoint that have retreated, think of it as killing key officers and causing panic/loss of morale or something similar.
For Elite make it two damage or two attacks. They would have to have no defense like scouts, after all they are single people or small groups and would be crushed in attack. Give them Stealth and all terrain as roads but only 1 movement, they would hardly be stealthy moving too quick.
Can the Bombard command be tweaked to give a definite damage result?
Something like Agent Orange would be good too. A quick way to deforest or dejungle a 9 square area, no shields collected, perhaps a mission for bombers, and a smaller 1 square option for workers, call it controlled burn.
 
Quakka, that idea would be cool, but Civ3 doesnt have "guaranteed damage" or "ranged kill". In a future patch they could add this. As well, if they dont have defenses, they would be overtaken by another civ. thats kinda unreal bc think about men following one civ change suddenly to another. they would be killed. A mortar infantry or rocket one could work on the present situation.


I need also help with configuration of two wonders i`ve made : Supreme Court (add a courthouse on every city and +1 trade) and FBI (add a PS and double defenses). need some shield usage and that stuff to make it work well and doesnt overpower the game. also requirements. all the stuff. plz post the help
 
I was thinking that the sniper would die similar to the way a settler does to barbarians, not that they switch.
I really like the Supreme Court and FBI Wonder and ideas, quash corruption bigtime. Maybe call FBI the Secret Service or Interior Ministry, all civs have some version of these. FBI is purely 20C American. Are they going to be Small or Great Wonders? Small would be better I think.
Some other ideas about Biowarfare:
Shell launched Mustard Gas from Artillery. Great for taking out stacks, affects every unit.
Mad Cow Disease or Anthrax to kill off Cattle and Game bonus squares. Could be delivered by diplomatic pouch.
Same for the Fish and Whales. Don't know what its called but its killing the fish around the Chesapeake Bay.
Smallpox, Bubonic Plague or the Spanish Flu for Population decrease.
These could be early game toxins as they have all been around forever. Could upgrade to more powerful Neurotoxins and Diseases later on for increased potency. Ebola for example. Maybe have a Center for Disease Control(CDC), as a Small Wonder to stop these effects, and disease from Jungles and Flood Plains.
One thing I miss is the ability to steal techs from other civs when you take their cities. How about after researching espionage and medicine your civ can make Sodium Pentathol. You can now extract some useful information out of those resistors you 'quell'.
 
Well, the supreme court is a good idea (reduce corruption, add a courthouse on every city, +1 trade bonus as a backslash to corruption) but its on skull yet (bc i need the civilopedia images as well as the queue ones, and to mention the city view ones) as well as the "FBI" ones. i think they will be great wonders bc they add a building on every city the builder controls. Ill keep the name FBI bc take Newtons University should only be english. Copernicus observatory italian, shakespeare theater english... you get the idea.

The ideas about units were good but... i dont think Civ3 has a "disease attack" as on civ2. If they fix or make a patch with this, your ideas will be accepted and made by millions (hehehe a litte hiperbolism there)
 
Sick, I'm starting to like the bio/chem weapon ideas! I do think that Agent Orange is a nice idea for clearing those bloody jungels, but make them only 1 square/mission.
 
I believe this option IS inside the Civ3mod.bic but hidden from the user as this feature was removed from the game at the very last minute before release due to the 9-11 attack and Anthrax issue in US. So if someone can just break into the Civ3mod.bic and Civ3Edit file I am sure this feature can be enabled.;)

Perhaps we need people like Gramphos to do this as he already manage to make a flat world just by changing a single byte in the file :D

It looks like there are alot of hidden feature that are in the Civ3mod.bic file that are not available to the users at the moment. But I am pretty sure soon someone is going to discover how to manupulate those bytes and make them available to the users before Firaxis :lol:

Agent Orange is a chemical they used for clearing jungle in the Vietnam War. Many U.S. slodiers died because of Agent Orange poisoning, so maybe it should add +1 pollution to the world when used.
