New Version – 5.0-alpha.03

congrats to VP community & ty to our dev team for their hard work on this milestone
deleted lots of unnecessary code, particularly CustomModOptions code
what does this mean for mods that currently use CustomModOptions? I assume I just no longer need to enable them in sql? or has any of their functionality been gutted?

I am always grateful to the people who dedicate themselves to countless hours so that we still play a 15 years old game. God bless you.

Just one question: how these adding more CS would impact to @adan_eslavo unique states modpack? If I understood well, adding 42 new CSs, does not provide the uniqueness that the "unique city states" bring, correct? So do we need to add adan's modpack or does it even suitable for 5.0?
The newly-added City-States will not have UCS bonuses, no. But I did add a Playable column so that adan can disable them when he next updates UCS.

There is a list near the end of the Modding Tools section of the changelog. If it says "perma-enabled" it's just a matter of not needing to enable them anymore. If it says "removed" then the functionality has been gutted.

Huge congrats to everyone involved old and new. I saw on the github it was quite a few people's first additions, so cheers to the growing and evolving mod and team!

Don't report the followings:

Tooltips having "nil" at the bottom: MPMPM turns all empty strings into literal "nil" for some reason. It wouldn't happen in mods mode. I plan to integrate MPMPM into VP (and fix the bug in the process) to make creating modpacks easier.
Tooltips having vanilla descriptions at the bottom: already fixed.
Promotion descriptions being wrong or empty: they haven't been written/edited for VP5.0.

Not getting starvation on city at 4 pop. Building Stonehenge, not settler. Only have 3 food, should need 8. The Inca. Save attached, if that works. EDIT: Shouldn't make notes on these things, I don't know the game well enough.

Read what the Qullqa does?

Depends how you went about repurposing them. If you just did UPDATE statements to existing units you only need to get the UNIT_TYPE, otherwise yes, need to check this 2nd post 2nd spoiler list and update accordingly.
Then protocol will probably be: run modmod, read database.log for all the broken things you missed, fix them, repeat until no more errors
Thanks, will do 👍

So I was guarding an ancient ruin with a warrior when a foreign scout moved through the tile, displacing my warrior and claiming the ruins. Is this intended?
i reported this bug 2 years ago btw, it's still in the game and i just got used to DOWing everyone in ancient era just to avoid this

Thanks so much for this.

However... I do not understand how to load this (have had VP for a while now). I have downloaded the required files and put them in my mods folder, which is where my previous VP files have gone. (Note that I have tried installing them via the DLC folder as per the instructions here and that simply didn't work at all.) I then enable them after starting Civ though Steam. Then when I set up a game and try to play, the screen goes into a red and white checkerboard pattern, some error boxes appear saying various things won't load, and then nothing happens.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance...

new game installation ALL!

there is nothing hmmm?

I've been playing VP with 4uc for some time now via the modpacks. I'm curious whether this is the same thing or whether things have been rebalanced or altered?

All the mechanics have been reimplemented in the DLL instead of using Lus meaning there is now AI support for the new mechanics, if limited in some cases. Some UCs have been changed for AI/game design/implementation difficulty/etc reasons. But it should be mostly the same.

Some civs like Sweden and Ethopia have completely new UCs, and most new UCs do have some minor balance changes as well, but it is definitely similar, not much to relearn/remember if you're experienced with 4UC
