New World War II Scenario

Remember me for the playtests then ;) Still want to be the Germans if that's ok with you :D

Sure thing Eivind :king:

Anybody playing Panzer General 3d Scorched Earth? Eivind, Insurgent???

Sorry, I haven't been able to find any of the Panzer General games (though I presume there is some old version on The Underdogs...)...

BTW, Eivind, the reason we couldn't connect to play SS2 appears to be that my IP address is not a static one - it seems my ISP is trying to implement static IPs presently. And that means that I can only use the IP with other pcs on the same ISP...

Hi All,

So, the final playtest version is finished. It can be downloaded from below. A LOT of things have been changed from the first version, so I think you all will find it a completely different game almost. Hope to get some response from you all.

Best regards

BKA

I downloaded and got a quick look.:goodjob: .Very unique approach.Looks good-thanks for your hours of hard work.

It looks good but I'm wondeirng why you have barbarian cities in eastern Spain? The Spanish Civil War ended on April 1, 1939 with the fall of Madrid to Franco's Nationalists. The government compeltely collapsed. It seems as though Spain should be united. If you really need someone for a PBEM playtest, I guess I can be the USSR.

Tried it and liked it :)
However are the minor allies infantry supposed to be settlers? As of now they abondon their cities to build roads and irrigation :(

:o

Yeah, that's a major mistake Henrik. I had the need of building some new cities, and I used the minor infantry for that. What a bummer.

Emugod, yeah you are right, but as you see in Asia the scenario does not clearly start in 1939. This is not a completely historical correct scen, so I have included the Spanish conflict just to spice things up a bit. But it could be removed.

Here is a new rules txt with some additional changes.

Some other general notes:

As Swede I must object to the lack of Swedish cities! ;) :D :p
Surely some of them should be around? They where part of both German and Brittish war plans as I recall. The Britts even had an invassion planned disguised as aid to the finns during the winter war as I recall.

Also there are some typos in city names around, vest road->West road for instance.

I like how infantry is actually good for something in this scenario, something that other ww2 scenarios have been lacking imho.

You might want to make sure the minor allies don't attack the germans or atleast add some events checks so that the allies go to war with them. I waited one turn before attacking poland (in order to possition my troops better) and the result was that the minor allies sneak attacked (meaning the major allies stood outside of the war as I wasnt the agressor.)Things got really wierd when I invaded France and simply asked the brittish expidtionary force to withdraw from my territory. :(

I'd be happy to play any side of this scenario in a pbem like the one suggested above :)

Notes taken Henrik (and yours also Morten :mad: :crazyeye: )

I actually had Sweden present for a very long time, but as they where neutral (barbarian) they kind of messed things up a bit - like nabourging Norway rampaging across the borders and besieging Gothenburg :cool: So, I settled for representing Swedish cities by just the terrain houses. But again, if there are a majority of Swedes protesting against this, I will consider changing it.

If it's not too much work please tell me of some of the major spelling bugs - that would make me very happy!

Considering a PBEM game or a "live" multiplayer game, I will personally not be able to play until after my exams are ending in June - but it would be perfect if some of you would take a game of too. That was my plan all the way with the scenario.

I like it... :D

Although the alternative does sound appealing... :groucho: ;)

Do you actually want the minor allies to attack neutrals anywhere?
If not you could make the barbarians at peace or even allied to them, that will fix this problem (as an alliance with the barbarians will be unbreakable).
This is accomplished trough some simple hex editing of the save/scenario file :)

Here are some city names, some of these where not wrong per se, but rather they where in owners native tounge. Imho you should decide wether to use English city names or native ones and use the same troughout, mixing them looks kind of bad (as of now for instance you have München/Munich in german, but Wien/Vienna in English).
In the end though, it's up for you to decide so city names that are spelled right but in uses a non anglical name has been marked by an asterisk bellow.
Skoplje->Skopje (atleast I think so)
Rangun->Rangoon
Venezia->Venice*
Firenze->Florence*
Korsika->Corsica
Napoli->Naples*
München->Munich*
Nürnberg->Nuremberg*
Krakow->Cracow*
Koenigsberg->Konigsberg*
Fes-> I could swear I've seen this name spelled with a Z rather than an S before, but I am not sure.
Tirana->Tirane (Not too sure about that though, it's Tirana in Swedish, but I've seen the other form used in English)

That isn't an English form - it's just bad English spelling because the Brits don't understand the letter 'ö' and interpret it as an 'o'. So the most correct form without using the Umlaut would be 'oe' as in Koenigsberg.

Another thing: Perhaps you should consider renaming the minor axis and the minor allies to something else (I have a hard time comming)up with a good name however.
As it is quite possible to end up at war with the minor axis when playing the axis (I just did in my game, as they allied with the UK) and vice versa...
