If I build the UN wonder, and I choose not to vote, can I do the vote later?

If so, how?

Yes. The game will ask if you want to want every couple of turns. It is somewhat random in order to hinder players from bribing and otherwise being extra nice to the AI just before the vote. Not that winning a diplo victory is hard anyway.

Hm that's not right... seems the bold and ittallics and all is done by the users... that faq didn;t mention special, cool quotes everyone knows how to use except for me.

Edit: didn't work at all, but since I copied too much info anyway... :hmm: has sometihng to do with spelling "qoute" wrong I bet

Hit the "Quote" button in the upper right portion of the post you are going to quote. I know it's hard, but I am confident you can do it. :D

Holy moly I'm almost at 50 posts.

Hey what is the hardest victory to achieve?

I would think cultural would be hardest, but really, I probably have only finished a game of civ once or twice my whole life! (in civ2)

I was trying to get a diplomatic victory in my game I'm in now, but I think that I'll probably win by domination or conquer.

It depends on the game. Conquest is probably the hardest (with histograph being the most tedious).

SINCE CFC IS SO PROFESSIONALLY RUN

You shouldn't mix CFC up with the newbie thread :rotfl:

@joedoe: yes, you can still play vanilla civ when you've installed ptw. There are pretty elaborate threads on what's new in ptw, I suggest you search for them. There are new civs, ne wonders and new units, and it comes with a better editor and some mods and scenario's.

Good Grief! I go offline to get some much-needed sleep, and come back to find the Newbie Thread added 5 pages of spam!!!

;)

Okay, it really isn't that bad. You were at least helping each other out. But if you really want real-time help, remember there are Instant Message programs you can use, like MSN, AIM, ICQ, ... ;) And don't forget the #civfanatics IRC chat room, linked to at the bottom of the page.

To more fully answer a couple of questions from somewhere above in this thread:

Well, you can check out the About Us page, that's pretty up to date. It tells you who all the mods are, at least. To see exactly what forums each of us is responsible for, you can also look at the Forum Leaders page. Also, at the top of each forum is a line that reads "(Moderated by: <list of names>)". Also, on the Forums Index page, each forum lists its moderators in the far right column.

The key answer is: this is Thunderfall's site, and he has the final say in any dispute. Also, he is the only Admin, so only he can do certain things. Which brings me to the next point:

Email/PM Thunderfall. He is the only one who can change it. But hope he isn't tied up with exams or anything, or you might have to wait a while. Non-site-critical things obviously get a lower priority. And then, too, sometimes the answer is "no".

@Shabba: :p

Hey, we try. And if the Newbie Thread was really that "professionally run", the last 5 pages wouldn't have seemed so "spammy". ;)

Am i right in thinking you cant build the Forbidden Palace in the same city as your palace??
That's a crazy idea :crazyeye:

Although you *could* want to do it and then jump the palace to a better location. Even in this case though, you would be better off building it in a city a few tiles away, it will make a difference to your empire even being that close, and you can still jump the palace.

So why do you want to do this?

How do I abandon a city? I tried building a settler in a city of size 2, but it seemd like the production was complete and just halted until the city reached size 3. The settler was produced at size 3, and the city remained...

You CAN'T build the FP in the same city as the palace.

And Padma, yeah thoes last 5 pages were spammy. In one of them I mentioned that ;)

..................make sure the town size is 2 AND food production in the town does NOT create ANY excess food. (viz, NO excess "toasts" on the "Food Line" on the city screen.)

When your settler is built (viz. the production box is filled), the AI will ask you if you want to abandon the city or not. Say "Yes" and voila, a Settler will appear and your town will disappear! :)

Edit: Beaten to it...

Where did you get that idea?

It functions as a second Palace. You shouldn't see it as buildable in the city where your current Palace is.

It will be very difficult to find a SG for CIV3 original. PTW is the ultimate version of CIV3 and most of us moved on....

While many people, myself included, have PtW, many don't. Based on typical XP's, only about 1/4 actually buy an XP, which is around what Firaxis thought would buy PtW. I don't know how many people (in general or posters here) did/will buy PtW, but I doubt it is anywhere near 100%, even here.

Has anyone asked how many people still wanted a Civ 3 Vanilla SG?

The people that post here (espiecially the SG players) are indeed fanatics, thus indeed would have PtW--in general.

I bought the expansion pack today!

It looks good, have a question though.... is it possible to play a LAN game with just the one cd?

Thanks in advance.

joedoe, no it is not possible. You could play hostseat though.

Yeah, if you played hotseat does one person have a turn while the other turns around so they can't see what they are doing? or do you just watch each other (just wondering what you do)

Also, do any of you guys have msn?
Please add me, mine is sarge69_is@hotmail.com

Thanks. :)

I actually don't have MSN.

For my hostseat games? Well, to be honost I have only played one, which the two of us watched one another, however, I'm planning a game that people wouldn't watch on other's turns...
