I know certain countries have "favored" and "shunned" governments, i.e. Russia "favors" communism. What does this mean, exactly? Does it relate to diplomacy or to the efficiency/production of the country? Thanks.

Right click (or I guess command click if you don't have a right mouse button) on the carrier.

I tried "control click" thing ( the mac equvilent of a cmd click) and it doesn't work.... perhaps the patch route is right- maybe it's a bug.

I'd love to hear if other mac users have seen this?

Can someone generally explain how you can take a finished SAV file and go over someones game. I mean, I know I can look at the cities and when they were founded; check out the finishing recap, but how do I get an idea of how things went and what decisions were made early on without a timeline? I ask this because people have discussed how they liked other's building strategies and stuff like that. How do you know when and how someone went about this?

Anarres I think we are on the same page when it comes to the adding workers discussion:)

How do you turn on the civ names alongside the city name? i.e. San Fransisco (America). I've seen it in several screenshots, but I've never been able to find the toggle for this.

I dunno out PTW, but there shouldn't be a huge difference between vanilla and PTW (I won't get PTW until the price drop is satisfactory for me)

First you have to set the player. Hit space and set an active player. Once that's done, two buttons that were grayed out before become active, select city and select unit. Just select the city option - you can put down either a town, city, or metropolits

In the Civ3PTW editor how do you add citys?

You have to select the active player first. Map -> Select Active Player. Then Map -> Select Brush Type -> City. (The City and Unit options are inactive until you select the active player).

First, let me say a big round of applause to Bamspeedy for his work on "AI Attitude"........AND for alerting us by posting messages to various places in The Forum. :goodjob: :goodjob:

You have my vote to put the Article in the War Academy.

You mentioned playing PTW in "Debug Mode".............how does one play Civ3/PTW in this mode AND what are some of the most useful features?

P.s. Off-topic but Congrats Bamspeedy for squeezing me out of the Silver Medal in last month's GOTM! ;)

Have you installed the latest Mac patch (1.21)? IIRC, one of the things this patch fixes is mouse control for units being transported - perhaps that includes aircraft in carriers. Give that a shot, if you haven't already done so.

In the editor go to Scenario Properties and check the Debug flag.

Debug mode lets you look in all the opponents' cities, create units (for any civ) and city improvements and wonders (yes, even in opponent' cities), money, increase population of a city, and research techs instantly -- all while the game is being played.

And if you exit debug mode (like retire), you are penalized heavily. There was an SOTD where a person retired after using the debug mode and was last with -50,000 points - that was SOTD #63 or something like that.

Sometimes a city size 1 will not be destoyed when i capture it. What makes a city not gettiing destroyed at size 1? I hate it when they whip them down before I reach the town robbing me of the pleasure of capturing it :(

If a size one city has any culture in it, it will not be razed.

If a city has generated any culture or has more than 1 pop point, a city won't be destroyed, IIRC. It might also have to do with whether or not it has any city improvements, but I'm not sure.
