I keep seeing people at early AD with railroads and mech infanctry. Without asking for too much, what are people doing to advance so quickly?

Let's say I clear jungle in the ancient time. Does that mean I cannot get any coal anymore on that spot? Or is the location of the coal pre-determined, and will it still come even if I have cleared the jungle from the tile?

You'll get it, still. Same with game in forests, dyes in jungle, etc - they don't go away if you chop down the trees.

Thanks. I know that game stays in forests (it's visible from the beginning) and the same for dyes in jungle (also visible from the start), but coal (or any strategic resource) only becomes visible after you research the tech that allows it, so I was wondering if it still appeared after you cut it down. Glad to have that cleared up.

Mercade: the first time res show up it is in a pre-determined space. Whatever you do to the tile.

RELOCATION is another matter. But by then you should own enouhg of the world already..... Like if your cola in jungle runs out, most of the jungle worldwide IS cut, do the coal moves to hills and you should own enough hills ;)

well if your cola runs out, just hit 7-11

can I have food routes in Civ 3
can I fix AI attitude in Civ 2
how can I know what version of scenario to download compatible with my Civ 3
are scenarios of Civ 3 is like in Civ2

No food routes worse luck. If ur town is in the tundra, for example, she stays in the tundra, and starves.

AI just seem to hate you in Civ2

The governor is useful if you don't want to micromanage your cities. He will assign workers to tiles or entertainers depending on the city's current happniness situation. This means you don't need to bother going through all your cities when you get more or less luxuries, after building cathedrals etc, or when getting hit by war weariness.

On the other hand, the governor does not understand the finer concepts of managing your cities. He will happily give +6 food and only 1 shield to that is stuck without an aqueduct at size 6 or take unused squares from another city within its borders, making the other city to starve.

Maybe I should add that it definately pays off to micromanage your cities during the early (ancient age) game. When your empire grows, managing every city becomes more and more difficult, so at this time you can assign the governor to most cities. It still pays off to watch the cities once in a while, and correct the most seriuos mistakes the governor makes. Also you might want to keep wonder-building and other key cities under your direct control.

When I switched to repuplic, I am now paying heaps for my units and my cities do not pay for them.

Why is this, should I go back to monarch?

(playing warlord, just entered the middle stage (i'm researching engineering)

also the AI are ahead of my 1 tech, what should i do?

Thanks in advance.

(would providing my 1.29F save help?

Under monarchy, you get some free unit upkeep. Under republic, you pay 1 gpt for each unit. You can make more money under republic though, you just need to let your cities grow, and improve terrain. IOW, more commerce! Behind in tech in warlord? That shouldn't be a problem. Just start prebuilding a wonder by building a palace (just don't finish it!), and lower your science slider so you'll make enough money to buy the techs from the AI. When you've got a bunch of libraries and universities, you can outresearch them.

Good thing it can't fail. Good luck Aggie!

City investigation is immune to failure :)

Being inspired by a re-animated thread,
do I increase odds on getting a settler out of a hut when I switch all settler production temporarily to something else before entering that hut, but do so in the very same turn (also assuming that I don't have any settlers running around)? Should I wait a turn (because a settler-build-flag might already be set at start of a turn)?

How could I give you my save game?

It says file is too big, its 137000+ k's when zipped.

I'd really like to show you my saved game so you can give me advice and see how I'm going.

Thanks in advance. ;)
