Hey All,

Just got Civ 5 and I have a few questions after playing to about 250 turns:

1. Game won't let me buy some valuable tiles near my city - does it just stop allowing you to buy tiles? I can't find anything in the rules - it only allows me to buy tiles here and there - but not the actual tiles I want which are right next to my city! LOL ... slightly annoying.

2. In the Ren age - how much gold should one have roughly? I'm playing easy mode and I have quite a bit more than the AI neighbors. I have about 2500 - but it doesn't seem like much. I don't have much in the way of an army - about 8 units altogether. Should I build more? What to do with them while I'm not fighting anyone?

3. Have not downloaded the patches yet - do they improve the game greatly?

Any info is appreciated.

Just getting into it - thanks!

Welcome to Civ Fanatics.

You can only buy the first three spaces from your city, and you can only work the first three too, so there is a reason.

It depends on what level you're playing, usually if you're playing on the higher levels you'll spend what gold you get quite quickly, it's only the lower levels you have more gold than you can spend. Just how much you have will depend on how much you spend.

Most definitely, it's almost a different game, and the patches greatly improve all aspects of the game.

Good luck :)
