Hi All,

I am a newbie and I do not know how to start with. I am not a professional gamer. Could anyone please let me know how to start the game, what are the initial activities and what are the controls (Keyboard keys, mouse)? I have just installed Civ3 on my machine. But, did not get an idea of how to begin it.

I think that the game has a "tutorial mode" which you can activate via the Preferences (accessible from the Main Menu). Play with that for a little bit until you catch the basics and have more specific questions, then ask them here or in the "Quick Answers" thread, depending on the level of detail involved. Loads of people here will be happy to help you.

If you get really stuck try the manual. Im assuming you have not played any of the earlier ones as there all kinda similar. Once you have the basics you should be able to find the answere to just about anything on this site. The quick answeres section is a pretty good one for simple stuff.

Be warned tho once you start this game you will soon learn what is ment by well ill jus thave one more turn. (8 hours later)

I would suggest playing the tutorial level a couple of times, then try chieftan. Keep the manual by your side, and you should be ok.

And if by any chance your copy didn't come with a booklet-type manual, there should be one in a file on the Civ CD.

Also, Civilopedia is there if you want to know anything specific about a unit/tech/government/everything else.

At the start it may seem overwhelming at all the information and different factors that are apart of the game, but as you learn more and more, it will start to get easier to understand.

The original game (known widely as "Vanilla" Civ3) does not have multiplayer capability. MP was added in the first expansion pack (PTW), and improved in the second (Conquests). If you have vanilla Civ3, you cannot play MP. If you bought Civ3 + PTW and/or Conquests (or Civ3 Gold, or Civ3 Complete), Multiplayer is built in. There is nothing to download.

I have never heard of "more civ than ever", so I would suppose you would have to buy PTW or C3C (preferably C3C).
