Welcome to the Civilization III Game of Democracy II Newbies' Mansion! This is a place for newbies of the Demogame to share your thoughts and ask any questions you wish. No one will be flamed in here!

Don't know the right place to post a question or start a discussion? Have a question about what is or is not allowed in the constitution, how the game is played, where the save games or chat logs are posted?

Or if you simply like to know about the latest happenings in the land of Pheonatica, feel free to post all your questions here!

I have a question...some threads in the RPG forum require a gold payment to post in them. Does this mean that someone not in the RPG will not be able to post in them?

Basically no. It wouldn't be possible for the forum mods to have a set-up like this but please don't go and post in them unless you've got the cash because you'll spoil their fun. Mind you, apparently everyone starts the game with 1000g so go hog wild! :)
I'm still unsure of the money deal though. You get a salary of a certain amount each turn or each turn chat. Do you actually have to turn up to the turn chat to claim your spondoolicks or will you get however much it is every week anyway? I only ask because my work has tightened up on my ability to access the CFC chatroom. :( I was in once ever but no-one else was and have never been able to get in since. Therefore I'll never get any more than the starting gold unless I invest like a (lucky) lunatic and any kind of loan is out of the question. The monetary system seems weird. :crazyeye:

I believe everyone gets paid each turn chat regardless of whether not they attend. Actually, I am quite sure of it. Other than that, I am not sure who or how the money is deducted from your account...

Correct - We're just using the chats as the pay period. You do not need to attend the chats to get your salary.

Private transactions will be posted to the bank thread by one of the people doing the deal (so as not to enter duplicate info). Business transactions will be posted by the business owner to the Fanatikan Revenue Association.

uhm your a memeber of the rpg anyway anyone who is a memeber of the demogame is a memeber of the rpg

last I heard, a demogame citizen needs to sign up for RPG as well. That's y there is a RPG registry thread.

About salaries, probably somewhere in the RPG forum...I'm not in RPG, sorrie.

It's rather strange, though... but we use these pretty gold rocks to trade things with.

Forgive me, I am a foreigner wandering around. Where can I learn more of these salaries? That is very intriguing to me.
As Zur said, the RPG registry is about salaries. Your salary will start accumulating when you either register in the RPG registry or you are involved in any posted transaction in the Revenue/Bank thread. The only way to be paid more than the base 100g (for those people with government jobs, etc) is to put this in the RPG registry.

I guess the newbies are shy. Newbie mansion is occupied by people who are not newbies.

I was TRYING to read through all that RPG stuff, but it is confusing to me.

I see people buying and selling items.
First question: How do you determine what items are for sell
Second: Is it simply a matter of someone saying: I am opning a weapons store
Third: WHY should someone buy a sword. Can you assassinate others?
Fourth: I see subscriptions in there. Must one purchase buildings to produce those, or just post them and sell them?
Very confusing to the outsider, this RPG.

No more so than our own $Mini-Game in Apolyton would be, I suppose.

There we purchase actual in-game tiles, and use the food/shield/commerce to buy/sell/trade/build our own sets of buildings and products. Personally, I own some stinking jungle (the Public Works Minister keep refusing to cut down MY tiles...) and a construction company, but new areas just opened, and I am bidding on more land...

1. Any items can be sold, so long as they are not ridiculous for our technology level.
2. Sort of. Each player can open his/her first private business for free. These businesses make profit from their sales.
3. For roleplaying purposes. I am roleplaying a rich lawyer. I bought a palace, a stable full of fine mounts, and a kennel full of hounds.
4. The newsletters and papers are also businesses. You need a business in order to post the sale of such items.

We also have land purchases with monetary benefits for land owners.

OK, lets say I want to begin the distribution of my Jungle Gazette over here in your RPG.

I need to first: Register for the RPG
Second: apply for a business liscense, which is free.
Third: Print my Gazette and sell it (how do we determine how many people look/buy it?)
Fourth: rake in the cash and buy some land.

I got that down right?
Are Foreigners allowed?
And is there any choice Jungle available for purchase? I am afraid it is rather neccessary for the production of the paper, which is printed on pressed Banana leaves through a patented process. We are currently looking at how effective tanned hides would be now that we have our own heard as well. I would need to petition for it to NEVER be improved more than a simple road as well, for I have found that the Banana trees do not prosper with too much disturbance...is that allowed?

I can take you right through the business startup. My company (Apro, Poe & Nuffin, Accountants at Law) has been contracted by the RPG Manager to assist all first time personal business startups. I will PM you.

OK. I am almost ready, then. One last question.

Is there a department, or company whom I can pay a modest sum to manage my finances as I will not be spending a whole lot of time in there? Like I can just leave them with my goals, they run things, then give me reports?

I used a similar company to manage my estates on Apolytonia while I concentrated on being VP.
