I get the impression from some early-ish victories that some of you enjoyed playing with your jaguars on this heavily forested map. Kaitzilla achieved a remarkable 350AD conquest win, also securing the gold medal. Fastest domination was a bit later - frederiksberg pulled that off in 1000 AD, while deckhand achieved the only notional non-military victory: Getting fastest diplo in 1770 AD. Silver and gold medals for 2nd and 3rd highest final scores went to Termitnik and shyuhe.

Slightly to my surprise, given the monarch difficulty, literally only half the submissions won. Was this game harder than I anticipated?

Well done everyone!

Here's where everyone settled.

The Small Print:
The numbers by each player's name indicate the turn settled on (starting turn is 0). Players are colour coded by game class (challenger=red, adventurer=blue). Symbols indicate victory condition, if there's no symbol then the player either retired or was defeated. The yellow border indicates the land that was visible at the start of the game.

Don't know to be honest. In my case I was rather miffed at the discussion about cheesy tactics, so in disgust I just submitted the entry and moved on to other stuff. Did eventually play the 175 game, but my interest in GOTM took a nosedive

Congrats to all the winners, and it's great to see some new or unusual names up there :)

Thought I submitted a retired game this one too, but apparantly I didn't even do that?

I often have a very hard time keeping up focus when playing playing maps that strays outside of my rather narrow preference zone for settings.
I have hard times finding comfort with barbs of, with huts, with events or with difficulties lower than immortal, funky map scripts I also have problems with and likewise random personalities, NTT or just choose religions. :)

What happens is usually that I have a difficulty immersing myself into the map and lose focus completely and play way to sloppy for 30-40 turns and then find myself in a suboptimal situation and then the bar is even higher to get into the right flow to.

I really really appreciate these BOTM maps, as they have helped me alot expanding my horizons and comming to terms with my bad habits.

Ah. Sorry to hear that. I have to admit I've been ill and therefore not on the forums much for the last few weeks so I apparently missed that discussion. But hopefully it goes without saying that we welcome any game that is played within the competition rules.
