BOTM 233: Ramesses II of Egypt.

Welcome to BOTM233. You will play as Ramesses II of the Egyptian Empire at Immortal difficulty. Even though you will not face spawning barbarians, you will face a Minor Civ with which no diplomacy is possible and all civilizations are at constant war with. I gave the Contenders an Egyptian Bowman (Babylon UU) and an extra settler, because I think you might need some help.
Even though the script was "tiny islands", I couldn't resist the temptation to connect the dots... so it plays more like "snaky continents". Good luck, and have fun!
Game settings:
Playing as: Ramesses II of Egypt
Rivals: 7 AIs
Difficulty: Immortal
Starting Era:
Ancient
Speed: Normal
Options: No barbarians, aggressive AI, permanent alliances, no goody huts, no random events
Victory Conditions:
All enabled
Map settings:
Map: Archipelago, low seas, tiny islands
World Wrap: Cylindrical
Mapsize: Standard
Climate: Tropical
Sea level: Low
Map latitudes: -90°S to 90°N
Ramesses II is Spiritual and Industrious, and you start with The Wheel and Agriculture.
The Spiritual trait gives no anarchy and double production speed of Temple and Cristo Redentor
The Industrious trait gives +50% wonder production and double production speed of Forge
Unique unit: War Chariot (replaces Chariot)
The War Chariot benefits from: base strength = 5, and immune to first strikes. This compares with the Chariot which has: base strength = 4, and not immune to first strikes.
Unique Building: Obelisk (replaces Monument)
Like a regular Monument, but allows you to hire 2 priest specialists.

Note that in this game, any espionage-culture victories will be counted as cultural victories.
Adventurer Class bonuses:
To help you get through any economic problems that the extra settler could lead to, I give you in addition a Great Merchant to do whatever you want with.
Challenger Class Equalizers:
You will play the game as Ra intended; starting with only 1 settler and one warrior.
To Enter the Competition:
This competition will open at 00:01 am on 12 Apr 2022, server local time (UTC-6:00). From that date and time, you'll be able to get your chosen starting save >>>here<<<.
Submit the save after your victory (or defeat) here, by 15 May 2022.

Software Versions
Windows: This game MUST be played in Beyond the Sword (NOT Civ4 Vanilla or Warlords), patched to version 3.19, and with the BUFFY mod version 3.19.005 installed. You can download the BUFFY mod here. Players using Windows Vista or Windows 7 are encouraged to read the notes on Vista fixes here.
Macintosh: This game MUST be played in Beyond the Sword (NOT Civ4 Vanilla or Warlords), patched to version 3.19, and with the Mac BUFFY mod version 3.19.003 installed. You can download the Mac BUFFY mod here.
While playing...
Remember - for your entry to be accepted, it MUST be your first attempt to play this game, and you MUST NOT replay any turns. If you make a mistake while playing, you have to live with it, learn from it, and carry on the game without replaying.
We will open 'spoiler' threads during the month for players to discuss what happens in their games. Do not discuss any details of your game outside those threads.

I love Rameses. The AIs are saying, “crap we’re playing on deity level!”

The Challenger save is only for fun and street cred because no way it can compete with Contender for awards.

Since this is the April fools game, better keep a garrison in coastal cities to protect against incoming minor civilization navy.

Looks like fun!

Want to guess on the identity of the minor civ? My bet is Raggy with the promise of beer-zerking fun in future.
SIP looks tempting. Probably as soon as I've built WB's for the seafood, a minor civ privateer will emerge to pillage everything.
It seems we are meant to stay alive at least for a few hundred years. I wonder if a minor civ has any Humbabas? Probably not but a Surtur would suit the Viking mythology. (Surtur, a Melconian heavy (18 000 tons) mechanized unit with six 82-cm hellbores in two 3-gun turrets and either heavy railguns or missiles as secondary armament.)

Thanks for the game, kcd. :) I think the starting position is just dandy, and will probably accept your generous offer of a bowman and second starting settler, but only because of peer pressure, you understand.

Game is up; let the games begin. I'll get spoiler threads up later today or maybe tomorrow.
