Thank you everyone who submitted their results, and congratulations to all those who acheived a victory for Alexander on a Mirror map. Perhaps it is the availability of strategic resources on this map which presented some extra difficulty? Or maybe the torroidal world wrap led to higher than expected distance maintenance costs is what tripped some folks up?

Thank you everyone who particpated in the pre-game discussions and described your game in the spoilers. :goodjob: You help make us all better players. :king: Interestingly, a number of people thought this set-up with no back-stabbers or warmongerers made the game easier than usual, but others said it seemed harder than usual because of the settings. I hope everyone got some fun out of it, at least.

And now for the awards: Congratulations and the Gold Medal goes to Srad with a 1270AD Domination victory. Fluroscent earns a Silver medal and a Fastest Domination award for his 1100AD game. And perhaps most amazing of all, we have a Religious victory making the podium -- that doesn't happen often folks -- with a 1620AD Religious victory for over 200000 points :eek::eek: by -Asterix- who also earned a Fastest award for the effort. :goodjob:

Special congratulations go to Jovan Kukic for the fastest Conquest victory Award, with a game that was also the fastest overall victory.

jesusin, Conquistador, and Mad Professor have also earned fastest awards for Culture, Space Colony, and Diplomatic victories, respectively. And the Diplomatic victory was hotly contested by cas, who only gets a shield for the effort.

And the Cow award goes to Carazycool with an impressive base score of 8343, in a 1993AD Domination victory. Well done!

I'd also like to recognize the Challenger Level game played by Munro, a 1510AD Domination victory for 187004 points and a 5th place finish. May have been the best played game of all.:king:

Seems that everyone (who submitted:mischief:) was able to find more food than the start location gave you. :goodjob: mikeocarroll was the only player leaving those gems for a second city, though. For the rest of you, I guess it was just too good to pass up, eh?

The Small Print:
The numbers by each player's name indicate the turn settled on (starting turn is 0). Players are colour coded by game class (challenger=red, adventurer=blue). Symbols indicate victory condition, if there's no symbol then the player either retired or was defeated. The yellow border indicates the land that was visible at the start of the game.

Congrats, congrats...
From my GOTM results it seems I'm a master of disaster :D
I'm most impressed by Fluroscent's game time

Congrats all...

I was floored than a couple of other folks settled where I did. I walked around the entire freakin' map - pulling a jesusin - looking for a decent spot to settle and just plopped down there as a last resort, figuring I had to get started at some point.

edit: Too bad no one SIP'd. It'd be interesting to see the results of that

Ooh, another "award" to add to my little collection of fast finishes. Oh the shame.

Congrats to all the winners and thanks to srad, Fluro, et al. for their First Spoiler posts. Descriptions of successful (and unsuccessful!) early-game strategies are particularly helpful to other players. I wish some of the other players with great games who didn't post (cough, Jovan) would share their experiences. ;)

Very interesting settling picture. Especially since it was very intensely discussed in the pregame thread.
Quite a lot of people "settled" for the plains hill in the end. I definitely think the 1NW spot was way superior (even though I moved to the PH first). Scouting NW was essential.
A single 5F tile has a powerful impact over only a couple of four food ones. That it happened to be closer to Egypt was an important boon too :D

Congrats to Mad Prof. My date would have been better if I didn't switch from space to diplo after liberalism.

I prefer the shields for my one-city efforts anyway.

cas

Congrats everyone!

Disappointed to be one spot off the half-way point. That's MY position dagnabbit! :p

I hope adrianj doesn't mind his shield, I mean only 2 people got a cultural victory...

cas

Thanks Cas, I'm amazed to pick up that award - I stuffed up by not getting myself a GE at any time (missed the pyramids with stone - ha! that was slack) A GE would have chopped 14 turns off my date and put me back to the early 1600's. I think I was lucky to pick up the award, but I'll take it! :D It's nice to win an award that's not a shield for a change, especially since this was my first xOTM for a couple of years...

I enjoyed the game a lot. The AIs of this game reminded me of the ones I choose in my HOF cultural games. The capital site was a bit different, though. :p

Congratz to all the winners and everybody who managed to pull out a victory!

Thanks for write-ups and special thanks to the lottery machine that gave me religious victory instead of domination! :thanx:

As if I need another proof I played a lousy game. Congrats to all the winners!
