Most of you found some way to live with or take advantage of the Seers of Uruk in this game. In fact, you've all done so well... its probably the last we'll see of Humbaba on these BOTM's*. ;)

We also got to watch a player-initiated space-gauntlet, which might explain why the gold and silver medals go to Spaceship victories this time. bcool not only won the fastest spaceship award, but acheived highest score while doing so! Well done :goodjob:

Thank you all for participating, and especially to those who shared their strategies and ideas in the game threads!

And here's where everyone settled... yvesb would get the "grass is always greener on the other side of the fence" award, if we had one. ;)

Gold and spaceship is pretty special. Well done bcool.

again, I'm second at diplo more than a 100 years behind.
Congrats to the winners, especially euripides, for conquest wasn't easy on this map and bcool for winning this month's special space award.

Congrats to all the winners, especially bcool's space gold! :goodjob:

Thanks as always to the staff! :goodjob: :goodjob:

Clearly, space is not my thing, with that 2026 result of mine. But that was not even bad enough for a shield? I will never get my pathetalons done at this rate!

Congrats to bcool for snagging both the gold and the fastest space!

I'm not sure how I ended up with the cow in my game. I guess I was the only one to play with Sid's sushi?

Thanks mapmakers and GOTM staff! Congratulations to the winners including my Fifth Element teammate pnp_dredd. I think my new goal will be to race for the largest number of shields ...

Thanks for the enjoyable scenario! Congrats to the winners.

I can't believe so many players settled in place this game. May I ask you... did you hate fish when you were a child (always preferring meat)? :)

I have compiled the dates for the space games:

bcool 1740AD
srad 1795AD
frederiksberg 1816AD
shyuhe 1852AD
Conquistador 1868AD
RRRaskolnikov 1874AD
jaybone 1882AD
Cat Behemoth 1942AD
Alamankarazieff 1972AD
terminator3k 1972AD
kkev 1979AD
High King J.J. 1993AD
Stalintag 2022AD
urbis 2024AD
da_Vinci 2026AD

Don't know if they all intended to play the gauntlet from the start. Actually an unreliable source tells me that dV fell asleep in front of his computer and hit enter 100 times with his forehead. When he woke up he had achieved a space victory.

Strong games by bcool and srad. I notice that zamint3 backed out of the gauntlet and went for religion. Smart move, I guess :cooool:

No, many of the space games used Sid's Sushi. Perhaps you used it to grow your cities? I used it to hire maximum number of scientists while running representation.

Actually, dV fell asleep in front of his computer and hit delete 100 times with his nose. When he woke up, all of his units and cities were gone! ;)

I thought I'd give space a run from the start (not that I have much experience with that), was horribly slow with tech, then had to fend of a threat for AI to win in the AP, so I went and captured it (this is late game), then thought about a religous victory, but some AI built UN, then settled on a late space to go for the shield. Didn't even get that. Murphy was playing for me ...

By the way, is it me imagining, or did our starting island look like a starship? I thought I could make out the saucer, two nacels, and the engineering pod.

Yes, it is. Must be something from your dream

My guess is that your REX was also slow. Did you build the GLH? Did you found MInc and Sushi? Did you expand through war in the middle game?

Looking at the bright side, you didn't settle in place, which was the first possible mistake to be made.

I think I conquered too many cities... I was around 40-50% land when I won because I kept on trying to conquer (and trade) for more sushi resources.

:smug:

RL was a bit tight this month so no time for a competitive space game. :(

Curse your RL demands
This was my first ever religious victory and I was hoping for fastest to go along with low scoring.

Congratulations on your fast victory

srad and I, on the other hand, invested too little in our armies (24 and 25 cities in the end). bcool finished with 40 cities.

My point regarding Sushi is that you need to somehow convert the extra food to gold or beakers otherwise you just pay corporate maintenance for nothing. And the maintenance grows when the cities grow!
