Great Game, thanks for playing.
Even with the gold, gems and no tech brokering - it was still a tough game and the Mansas beat 1/3 of you.

nocho took the gold with his fastest conquest, while zamint3 got the silver for his lowest scoring conquest, Mitchum managed to snare the bronze with a Spaceship.

Here's where everyone settled.

The Small Print:
The numbers by each player's name indicate the turn settled on (starting turn is 0). Players are colour coded by game class (challenger=red, adventurer=blue). Symbols indicate victory condition, if there's no symbol then the player either retired or was defeated. The yellow border indicates the land that was visible at the start of the game.

Congrats on the gold, nocho! :goodjob:

Also congrats to Sleepless for the domination victory. My fellow Misfit Gypsy Nuts showing up strong in the BOTM. :D Wish I could have done the same, but for my first xOTM in a long time I am pleased just to have managed a victory.

This was a really enjoyable scenario and game, so big thanks to the sponsors and admins!

Goodness, I just discovered I'm the only Mac player. Many thanks for supporting Mac! (And of course thanks for the Mansatastic game.)

Wow, nocho! It was an impressive score. This is my target !!!

Congrats to medallists, awards winners and all players that subbmit! Thanks for another game Deckhand :goodjob: !

Very fun game to play, I normally lose interest in single player games but this was very well designed. Also a great level of competition. Gonna have to try hard to break the top 10 next time, although I think I put in a good show.

Also, looking at the play times, I definitely need to slow down...

Double award - highest and lowest Mac score? :P

Nice Challenger game, WastinTime! It's a shame that jesusin doesn't feel he should be taking the Challenger saved games by this time in his career (gentle nudge) so that it would have been a tighter competition for the Fastest Cultural Victory.

It is a real shame about the terrible placement of the Gems and Gold Resources in the Challenger saved game, though... never trust a map maker, sigh. :p

Good job to Jastrow on winning the Space challenge and nice work from Mitchum for making up much of the gap in terms of finishing date!

Those are some pretty high-scoring games for Conquest Victories, nocho and zamint3!

That's a pretty respectable UN Victory date, too, TalladegaKnight!

I went for a military game as it is something I'm really bad at. I think I had a military win once in the first BOTM I played. That must have been ages ago.

I do seem good at combining nukes and diplomatic victories. This time it was just 10 instead of over a hundred.

Thx, Dhoom. I wasn't trying too hard to be competitive. Just having fun with the stone/marble...trying to get all the wonders (and failing at it.) I don't think the gold/gems hurt as much as it seems it would on the challenger save. jesusin won fair and square. No respect lost for not playing the challenger.

Congrats to my teammates Jastrow and Mitchum for doing so well on Space even after it was declared the official "gauntlet" for the BotM.

Yes, I meant to give kudos to WasinTime for taking the challenger save.

Interesting that only one Challenger and only one Adventurer.
Y'all Don't be ashamed to take Adventurer if you aren't comfortable on the current level.
And you experts step up and try a Challenger sometime.
Spoiler :
I was going to say "not that I ever have", but I have a couple time, e.g. in Swede's Game of Thrones map;
so maybe it's on me to make it attractive?

OK, I'm really not so nice. The intent was to only provide the resources and not another pair of good city sites. :p half-hearted apologies to WastinTime.

I was only mostly teasing about the resource placement. They were still in very useful locations and not too far east. I would have been just fine with a competitive finish date, but I was wonder-crazy, building junk like Temple of Art, Stonehenge, instead of pyramids. Having my Mansa get very very early longbows was what really killed my game. You didn't have any control of that.

:)
I don't play to compete, I play to learn and become a better player.
I have more games to compare to when I play contender. That's all.

Nice work winning the Space gauntlet, Jastrow! :goodjob: It's not surprising seeing as how you have 17 18 fastest Space awards across the three game versions. Only C63 has more than you if my quick review of the awards was accurate. Maybe you (and Jesusin) should start going after some of the military VCs so that the rest of us have a chance... ;)

Un-official results of the Space Gauntlet are (note that some of you may not have intentionally been trying for the gauntlet award):

1. Jastrow - 1670 AD
2. Mitchum - 1680 AD
3. conquistador 63 - 1745 AD
4. haphazard1 - 1814 AD
5. astre - 1816 AD
6. ReallyEvilMuff - 1832 AD
7. Xcalibrator - 1836 AD
6. praxio - 1856 AD
7. LincolnOfRome - 1888 AD
8. ChrisFromLux - 1898 AD

It's a shame that neilmeister and Pollina didn't play/finish and that Jesusin lured WastinTime into Culture. I was really hoping that someone would post a pre-1600 AD date for all of us to marvel at a learn from... that someone was supposed to be me but I wasn't even close!

Congrats to all of the other award and medal winners as well!! This was actually a fairly tough map with really high maintenance costs (for anyone that left the starting continents) which made it difficult to balance the economy.

Maybe the next time we do an unofficial gauntlet, participants should take the challenger save so that it's clear who's participating... IIRC, that's how they did it in the Old Days. :old:

Hmmm, so my game was the only one concluded with a religious victory (well, defeat for me, but someone won it).
