News: BOTM49 Results and Congratulations

The loss of the Sampo did not seem to faze everyone, as 14 players managed to find victory without it. The proximity of opponents may have been a factor in the tables being dominated by Domination victories, but the gold medal goes to evil_spock for a well-played Conquest victory. Very competitive domination victories by Jovan Kukic and Neilmeister round out the medals with silver and bronze respectively.

Jesusin showed his skill in culture victories once again, despite a very unfavorable map. hhhawk wasn't far behind in that race.

Welcome to the fastest finish awards, High King J.J., very nice to see a Finn make the lists in a Sampo game!

And htadus earns a place in the "hit'em where they aint" club with a religious victory that showed perserverence pays off.

Turns to end of revolt or border pops were not taken into consideration, so that those who culture-flipped a barb city actually acquired the Sampo a little earlier perhaps, and those who captured a barb city militarily actually acquired the Sampo a little later.

I found this game was rather odd, as I had gotten used to HoF starts again, so I was thinking "where are the 2 gold and 2 corn?"

I give all credit to Humbaba & Co who decided to make the coastal city invincible, leaving the much nicer sampo city almost defenceless. Top 5 you say, that has a nice ring to it.

Personally I blame the other religions for sucking. Jesusin had I think 5 or 6 religions, I believe I only had 3 to work from

Thanks for the map. It was a different challenge to a normal map & that's what I love about GOTM (Along with some normal maps too)
