GOTM 111 Pre-Game Discussion!

Please Note: This is the Civ3 PTW Game of the Month. It MUST be played using version 1.27f of Civ3 PTW, the last version. If you installed Civ3 Complete, the default game executable is Civ3 Conquests, but you do have access to the Civ3 PTW executable. You may have to navigate into the Civ3PTW directory to start it.

Fine yes, but not very RCP friendly. Predator of course, as long as the handicaps don't concern luxuries. (The fear that a missing luxury could turn out to be wine is especially hard to bear.)

I lean towards hand building the Great Lighthouse or Colossus, but the Militaristic wonder is trickier. Of course, we can hurry Sun Tzu or Leo's Workshop with our third great leader, but that is not really a trustyworthy plan, is it? If we hand build both wonders then it's either Colossus+Leo for a long career in science, or Lighthouse+Sun Tzu for an attempt at early military glory (in which case Leo would come too late.)

(in which case Leo would come too late.)

I don't think so. Berserks require Invention, so we surely want to research that far. No fun playing Vikings without the big axemen surely? Not only does Leonardo start the golden age, it cuts the cost of upgrading all your archers. I wonder if it is worth using Monarchy to built up an absolute swarm of the little guys, without breaking the bank...

Yes, it's a good plan but I don't think I will bother with bezerks at all unless some of the civs are very distant and requiring Navigation. My fast miltary alternative hinges on all or almost all civs not being that distant, in which case I may use knights instead.

Hmm. Looks like a whole bunch of stuff you wouldn't normally want to settle on. I'd normally be drawn to the wines, but not at the cost of a cow. And need to see if any of that water is fresh. Too many possibilities, I'll have to get in game and move a couple of pieces around.

I haven't played PTW in a while. I'll have to remember RCP corruption is in effect, and leaders can make great wonders.

Clearly the vikes are designed to expand through aggression. Here we go...

Oh yeah, I'll download open class.
