News: TSG42 Announcement

Hmm. I'd better get a move on with TSG41.

I have played one game as Pacal. The Long Count thing is a bit peculiar. You can only take each great person once, and of course some are more useful than others, and they push up the number of GPPs you need for your GSs. So should you try to get theology as early as possible (when each turn is worth a lot of years), take a GS and settle him, then a GE for one of the mid-game wonders? Or should you try to delay theology to avoid pushing up the GPP counter with useless great people?

And what a terrible starting position! We're surrounded by swamp and jungle. I'll probably settle in place, then I can least clear the jungle from the hill I'm on. Somewhat tempting to try moving the settler east to find a better location, but if there's nothing there, the delay will be horrendous.

Just a FYI, you can re-pick a GP if you get through all of them once first (it starts the whole cycle over again)

I played as Maya once. I suggest picking a GS or a GP as your first great person. In my game, I did GS first, then GP second, then I chose all the other great persons based on the situation at that time.

Update (12:46PM): Question. Can anyone tell me how, when I submit my game, I can see my playing time. When I submitted TSG41, my playing time was shown as N/A. Is there a setting or something that I have to go to to do this? Thanks.

Pretty sure your time is hidden for everyone else. And when you aren't logged in, you are someone else^^ (that's probably how you thought you were able to do this somehow on your own).

Ugh, can't seem to find the time to start this GOTM. So anxious to find out how others are doing but I know I can't look at the progress thread yet.

Anyway, it looks interesting. The Maya, raging barbs, small map, and that starting location all have me intrigued. Also, I think the last time I went for a diplo victory was when the game first came out, so I really don't have any experience at it. All of it might prove to be a challenge despite the low difficulty.

Hi all, I havent been on forum for a long time... hated the game without diplomacy and religion. But, since Firaxis announced G&K I am getting ready.

Because i love to win Diplo and Culture, i feel this will within my playstyle.

anyways... good luck all.
Z.

I dunno. it's just that when other people post their stats at the end of previous TSG's, they always have their playing time.

Just a FYI, if you make it through a full cycle you can be sure not to have the fastest time :p

...and you get the same info to the email address you enter when you submit your savegame.

Please note that you are only allowed to build Oxford University one time. :nono:

Apologies for the dumb question, is there a bug in the game that allows me to build it more than once? And, is there an easy way for me to check if I've built it already?! I can't recall and there's no way to search my notification log?!

Sorry if this has been answered many times before in the forums, I didn't see anything in a search ...

If a city with a national wonder is captured by or traded to the AI (or another player in a MP game) you can then build that national wonder on a different city, or even the same city if you retake the city after it's captured or traded. Even if you get the city back that you originally built the national wonder in it will be gone, because it was deleted when the AI took possession of the city it was in since you're only allowed to have 1 national wonder per civ.

Therefore, if you build Oxford University in a city that's not your capital you could sell/trade/gift that city to the AI. Since you lose OU at that point you'd be able to "rebuild" it in a different city and get another free tech. That's why this is specifically against the rules of the GotM.

Ah OK thanks for explaining. I was afraid it would just let me build as often as I like, LOL! I'd say I'm safe ...

pyramids -> jungle culture -> collective rule

gl to theology
