Merry Christmas! I've been lurking on these forums for a decade or so, but I've just starting trying the GOTMs and this is the first one I've done 'officially'. It’s also the first time I've tried Nebuchadnezzar (this GOTM and Steam’s X-mas sale inspired me to buy the DLC). Most importantly, it’s my first Deity game – I don’t always win on immortal, so my goal will simply be survival. If I can live long enough to see who actually wins this thing I’ll be happy.
Time victories represent a different way of playing the game for me. I’ve always played Civ as an empire building game in which my goal was to build a proud nation to stand the test of time. My games go long - I usually build up a well-balanced civilization in the beginning (an even mix of science, culture, gold and military might) and then decide what I’ll do with that in the late game. In Civ4, I would quite often win happily with a high score victory. In CiV, I generally end up going for conquest victories. But I’m still usually more interested in pursuing my own goals, such as crippling a civ that wronged me centuries ago, or ensuring that the entire planet worships my religion. Most of the things I do in the game are done out of spite.  This should be an interesting departure.
The starting position is lacking in terms of production, but there should be plenty of food to grow the capital quickly. I tend to fall behind in tech on the higher difficulties and get overrun militarily. Neb’s science bonuses and bowman should help in both regards. I’ll focus on science and population growth in the capital initially, hopefully I’ll survive long enough to get a good production city and then pump out defensive units and walls and get myself on a solid footing. I probably won’t have a clear victory condition in mind until I reach this point and explore a bit.
