I'm wondering what I could find at sea to make settle on the coast. Is one luxury even enough? Certainly not fish. Depending on their location, they might be better captured by a second or third city. Settling on the deer makes the GL a sure thing? Or is that the case on King anyway? It seems to me it would also give more terraces near mountains. I'll probably still move warrior to the coast to take a peek, but I doubt it will make me settle there. Oh, and settling on deer avoids the risk of settling on horses or iron

I've never tried a GOTM and figure this might be a good opportunity. I've just moved up to Emperor so this one (King) should be a good game to get my feet wet and compare my play with others. A few questions:

1) When saving the game do we just save it with the same file name? I.e. save over the initial save?
2) I likely won't be setting any records so was wondering if most people at the end post their save or just end up reporting back on how the game went?
3) As for this particular game I was thinking of doing an OCC. Ive always wanted to try an OCC science. I know OCC is not checked but I may just give it a shot and not found any other cities.

Anything else I should know for my first GOTM? I did read through the GOTM sticky thread.

Welcome and good luck with your first GotM!

1. You dont need to alter the name of your saves. Just submit the save the turn that you won (by clicking "wait.... just one more turn" and then saving).
2. If you submit it will give you a results screen. That's what many people paste in the threads (minus any personal info like email addresses) to show they finished with the times they claim. It isn't necessary but it is common in every GotM.
3. Game style and strategy are left up to the player. If you can try not to solicit advice about games currently being played as it might prompt spoiler responses.

And one last suggestion: Set your autosave option to every turn. If the game crashes we prefer you load from the turn before and replicate that turn as closely as you can remember.

AI stealing tech from you is a good thing for several reason.
1. cheaper RA
2. they got caugth all the time, you forgive = diplo boost
3. their spy in your capital instead of couping your CSs.

+It seems they steal a lot form you, but actually you have several spy in your cap, so sucessful steals / civ /year is quite high.

I never really care if the AI steals from me. Why? Because it means that I'm out-teching them and they're no threat to me.
